In my DD's class at CSSD there were 9 girls and 8 boys. But the boys have had more success getting work as there is just a lots more stuff for them to go for.
I think one of the main problems is highlighted in the comments on the original article - this is also happening at a time when there is a contracting market, with fewer theatre companies etc and less TV devoted to drama - all those cooking/house/talent show!!
However, I do think that the skills in drama school are useful ones - my DD has no shortage of other jobs (ha ha - resting???What a joke ) and some of that is down to her training I think. I also know of other graduates who are finding the jobs market difficult. I just think that if you decide to rain then go into it with your eyes fully open. Neither my DD nor I regret her studying acting, it's just frustrating trying to chase the small number of jobs along with thousands of others
