Here's the Ad. DS was member but gave it up as nothing was being responded to but we're curious about this one.

Lord Of The Flies Production
To apply for this job/casting you need to sign in as a member. Not a member? Register now to apply to jobs and castings.

Experience Required: Acting,Musicians
Gender Required: Any
Expiry Date: Jul 29th 2012
Casting Details: A plane crashes on a desert Island and the only survivors, a group of school children, assemble on the beach and wait to be reduced. By day they inhabit a land of bright fantastic birds and dark blue seas, but at night their dreams are haunted by the image of a terrifying beast. As the Childrens delicate sense of order fades, so their childish dreams are transformed into something more primitive, more savage, more murderous.

A fast paced, edgy, violent and contemporary twist on the William Golding classic. We require a mixed cast of boys and girls for this highly physical production, with a thumping soundtrack. Think Hunger Games meets Lost meets Pulp Fiction.

All actors should be late teens to early twenties ideally, or if older, be able to play down in age. Actors of all ethnicities welcome. Good combat skills and singing voices advantageous. Also acrobatics/tumbling helpful too, but not necessary. Anyone with acrobatics/tumbling skills may be required to show these skills at auditions.

Castings being held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the 14th, 15th and 16th of August. One contemporary monologue required. All actors, except those auditioning for Ralph and Piggy will also be required to sing an acapella pop song. (Jessie J, Rhianna, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran and Plan B are good examples of song choice.)

Late teens early 20s - definately not children then..... I really do think these adults playing down are rarely believable .

Did anyone else see the production of Lord of the Flies last year (I think) at Regents Park Open Air Theatre, clever casting of small young actors who really looked 12-15! One child (3 boys in rotation) was in the cast to play the youngest in the story. The set was cleverly creative too. 8)

Agree!!

This would be a great topic by Jessica Laing for her next Spotlight piece and the above sentence should be used in CAPS!
