Agency Recommendations list

Post by WildChild »

We are considering changing agencies, but having looked at various posts and on the web we have found ourselves in more of a muddle than before. It appears that some require that they are the sole representation while others are happy to have you represented elsewhere (we are currently with an agency and would like to stay with them, but feel an agency in London might be better). Some agencies appear to focus on theatre or dance verses print and or film - it would help not to be barking up the wrong tree!!!

Could anyone represented by an agency that they feel is worth recommending please post the name, location, what the agency specialises in, sole or not, specialisation, and any other relevant information (like are they more likely to take siblings?). I think it would be a really helpful resource!

That's in advance for sharing your knowledge!

Scream Management. DD been with them for almost 2 years an we couldn't ask for anything better. The team are all lovely, so approachable and always willing to talk, they make a real effort to get to know their actors, and she has had some absolutely incredible auditions. Good Luck in your search! :D

I would 2nd MelanieC123's vote for Scream. Whilst not perfect (they have an annual 'admin' fee of £25 which many disapprove of) my DS joined them 5 years ago when he was 9. Since then he's worked for: Nick Jnr, CBBC, Sky, CITV, BBC Radio 4, BBC Education, The Royal Exchange Theatre and, currently, Disney Channel. Jobs and auditions have been across the board - theatre, TV, voice work, radio, commercials etc.

Obviously there's no guarantees in this line of work but I think this shows that Scream have contacts throughout the industry and put kids forward for relevant stuff. They also care about their actors, text me often just to see how we are, know our family and regularly come to see DS on set or in plays and they attend screenings etc. I've yet to see other kids agents do this.

The details: they are a kids & young performers (up to 21 or 22 I think) only agency based in Manchester & London with theatre schools in Manchester and Blackpool. They also have a 'sister' adult's agency - Red Door. They hold regular auditions & have a website with more info.

Hi, did you find an agency for your child???????? I think you get a feel for an agency, you will know if its right or wrong. We have had 2 agents, one of which was Scream and I knew with both they were not the right people to help my son. We are now with an agency which feels right and I am very happy with them as is my son. I don't like it when Agencies give you a 6 months clause, the one we are in now doesn't understand the point in it, a yearly fee????? again, our agency don't do that, they also dont have a drama school costing £££££££ (which with some agencies they expect you to go to). Its like everything you learn as you go along. I feel so much happier now but its taken 2 years nearly 3 to get to this point. everyone has different experiences, people say for instance Scream is great but I dont agree, I could say Bonnie and Betty are great but someone will feel differently. Take your time, go with your gut feeling and if its not right move on till you find the right people to represent your child. Good luck
