Spotlight when you’re up north??

Post by loladd33 »

Been looking at things that says Spotlight is good if you can travel up to London at short notice! Given that we live up North and DD is in year 10, doing GCSEs, is this a good thing that we should be doing? And if anybody has Spotlight can you pls tell me how much school etc she would actually miss?
Thank you! Xx

Hello Loladd33
Spotlight is one of those things you really do have to have wherever you live if you are with an agent. Basically it is an electronic noticeboard where casting directors post jobs and all the agents then get a notification that pulls up their most suitable clients and they will then send this off to the casting director.

Spotlight is the main tool used by agents, as a parent you will not see the emails or the jobs, but without it no agent will want to touch you.

We live in Somerset and yes sometimes you do only get 24 hours notice and it can be really hard financially and time-wise, however if your DC wants to act and you are happy to support them, then it is going to be extremely hard work (and hopefully rewarding) and you just have to be prepared to go with it.

As for how much school your DC would miss, well that just depends on how much work they get offered.

The secret is to have an agent who is selective about what they put your child up for, you do not want to be with an agent that throws your DC at everything otherwise it gets out of control.

Hope that helps.
