yes she has but I think she told DD that she really wanted that one.....they told her they are full! But I am pretty sure there is still some movement to be made as maybe some have accepted elsewhere out of UCAS too? I think they have maybe massively over offered though or they could still keep a continued interest list going like Bird do.......I hear Emil Dale also massively over subscribed and didn't offer many of their BTEC students a place (similar scenario to Urdang). I guess this year has been a huge unprecedented amount of auditionees!
Have Urdang already over offered? We are waiting to hear and this worries me.... also is anyone else stalking this thread to see if anyone has heard from Urdang yet! :)
I don't know if they have over offered...just that only 3 or 4 AVT got offered places! Similar to Emil Dale. I know Urdang have had 1900 applications like most they have all had record years of auditionees as logistics and travel expenses and time off school haven't had to factored in and limit the amount people applied to. Many have sent in multiple extra this year due to all being online.
ahh ok, thank you :)

We know somebody waiting too...they haven't heard either. They telephoned last week and were told it was proving difficult!!! whatever that means. I think there is a deadline for the colleges and UCAS for Thursday? Is that right? So it shouldn't be long.
Yes the UCAS deadline for degree offers to be received is this Thursday. Difficult, I wonder why, they’ve probably over offered and are now a bit stuck??? My gut feeling is that the recalls of April 9th haven’t been looked at until recently as there’s been all the 3rd year musicals to get sorted and filmed. I’ve had a look at their website and the final date for applications and recalls to be submitted was May 13th. That means there’s still quite a few others still to be auditioned.
My DD only submitted her first tapes a few weeks ago and hasn't been asked for a recall but still waiting to hear. Not sure how to read that... Keeping my fingers crossed we all hear today!!

Your DD isn’t at a disadvantage at all by just submitting her tapes. She’s got just as good a chance as anyone in my opinion. Their final deadline for all original submissions and recalls was May 13th so there’s still others after her to be viewed. My main stress is needing their answer so DD can make a decision. Urdang is the last of her applications she’s waiting on an answer from.

Correction on my earlier post re UCAS deadlines. If you receive your last offer on or before 20th May, you must reply by 10th June. Or if you receive your last offer on or before 6th July you must reply by 14th July. Performers has stated that the last date you can accept their degree course is the 10th June, the earlier UCAS deadline.

The Emil Dale process was rather strange this year. A couple of girls and lads who auditioned early were offered places. A very few got straight no's. However, EDA was not a first choice for any of the current BTEC 2s even though they've enjoyed being there for the 6th form. EDA later offered a large group (19 I believe) reserve places thereby saving them the £350 non-refundable deposit! Many were told in their recalls they had outstanding scores and that it was a win win situation for the college as they could take credit for their students' other offers. All those students now have offers at Mountview, GSA, ArtsEd, RSC and Royal Welsh plus Urdang and Laine amongst others so none is now taking up a place at EDA. The process wasn't right and that has been acknowledged. The view on the ground is that Emil did not want to offer places and then have multiple rejections as the college has a small intake. We know that they are amending their degree course and hopefully will attract more first choice degree students in the future once they are more established in the industry. Their recent grad musical was super. I know DD is excited about her future but will also be sad to leave EDA. The BTEC has been excellent. But certainly not many at any college appear to go from a 6th form course onto the degree regardless of policy and practice!

Thanks, I hope so! I know Urdang said they would get results out by yesterday but as that hasn't happened, is their cut off for letting people know the 20th for UCAS?

Yes. They could be the 20th May for applications received up to April or 6th July for later applications on UCAS. We’ll have to wait and see. They’ve changed the dates that results were promised twice now for the April 9th deadlines. At this point it’s a big ‘who knows’.

dancelifemum wrote: Tue May 18, 2021 11:44 am Random...but has anybody ever heard of anyone getting a place via clearing?? Not something we are looking at doing  But with regular uni courses you can view after a certain date if places are available on that course......
Yes, but vey rarely. The year GSA introduced a new course, I think it might have been Actor Musician can't remember, but there were spaces in clearing we know someone who went that year through it.

I've also sometimes seen LCM (London College of Music), which is part of the University of West London, put their courses though clearing. I understand though the contact hours aren't like the drama schools and I don't think their MT offers dance, more of an actor/singer course. I might be wrong.

On a separate note, I'm really surprised to hear Emil Dale has over offered. I accompanied two young people to their in person audition there last year. They were clearly only looking for dancers, at that point anyway, with a few hours long dance workshop, a turn up and sing your songs for the musical bit (accepting there'll have been restrictions on group singing/workshops) and not even looking up during the monologue section. Only one person was offered degree that day (my charges had been in the 2 separate groups and made a group chat) who was the best dancer auditioning and has now taken a place elsewhere anyway.

Is anyone else worrying about accommodation? Or am I just over thinking it!

My daughter is holding two offers for bird and performers. She has yet to visit performers as she was ill and unable to attend the open day. By the time we get to look round the accommodation list will probably be out.
And one of her best friends is on reserve for bird. It makes sense for them to share if she is offered a place but she might not know for some time yet.

I’m wondering how difficult it is to find accommodation if we leave it much longer?

My DS has a student flat for 4 in a student accommodation block (High Court) and still needs 2 first year girls. Nice flat, town centre and he has one other boy. Of course it might depend on Laine and DaDAs ....

Things are starting to move now with the April 9 recalls from Urdang. A friend of DD’s has sadly received a no earlier this afternoon. My DD is now really worried about what her response will be.

I will pass this on thank you. I wish she was in a position to decide but hopefully it won’t be too much longer

Finally! Well it might be positive if your DD didn't get a no this afternoon? I will keep my fingers crossed for her!
My DD got an offer from GSA today!!!! I cannot tell you how happy she is. It was her first choice and her dream school. I feel I can finally relax....we are still waiting to hear from Urdang and Bird but her decision is already made. Good luck to everyone still waiting for results before final decisions are made :)
