Intersting, because I've looked at LIPA's sixth form before and this is from their FAQ about whether students can apply if not from Liverpool (or surrounding areas)islandofsodor wrote:At a recent information meeting Hammond told us that 16/17 year olds HAD to live in vetted landlord/landlady accommodation and its one of the things that inspectors insist on.
Yes. We encourage applications from students across Liverpool, Merseyside and the North West who can demonstrate the aptitude, motivation and dedication to benefit from our creative and performing arts-focused courses, subject to meeting the entry criteria set out in the Admissions Policy. However, please note that we will not be offering any residential accommodation for our students

My daughter is 15 and 16 in July but as we are looking at housing for Bodyworks we are finding that age group few and far between and are worried about her house sharing with much older students. We found a house for 8 and 5 rooms are already taken by 1st years but after joining a group chat she has discovered that the others are all either 18 or 19? Thanks for any advice in advance. Xx

My daughter is in the same position. She is 16 and starts at Evolution in September. She has taken a place in a house with seven rooms in and there are five girls and one boy in her house who are all 18 or 19. The principal of the College has set up a group chat for all of the new students so they have been able to identify who is in what house and get to know each other a bit. They have all added each other on Facebook too which is nice. Some of this year's students have also added my daughter on Facebook and have been a great help answering questions about the rooms, the timetable, what bus to catch e.t.c.mummyofmylittlestar wrote:I'm just wondering if anyone else has come up against the same issue we are. Re: Auditioning for 2017
I think the requirement at Hammond for 16/17 year olds accommodation is due to the Indpendent Boarding Schools/Ofsted Inspections. Students can obviously do A levels still at the school, either diploma course students or btec drama students and I don't think they assess provision any differently for them than for lower school (years 7-11) but view the school as a whole.

Re: Auditioning for 2017
Thankyou for all of your advice on my 15 year old and accommodation. We are hoping to get her into the student house with the older students. She doesn't want to live with a host family and feel out of it and to be honest I think she will settle more quickly with other students too. the landlady is considering her as she doesn't normally take 16 year olds and I think it is more difficult for her to do this so we are very appreciative of her for her kindness. The other students seem lovely as my dd is in a group chat with her and she seems happier now about it. Thankyou xxx

Hi Nervouswrek....I can't help re Bodywork, however there is a thread called London Studio Centre under Training....you will have to scroll quite far down but users afab, Lorry and Princess1 gave some very useful information regarding class sizes and accommodation etc. I hope this helps xxxxNervouswreck wrote:Ok as a follow up I would need please as much feedback as possible from your DDs on LSC AND Bodywork. sizes of class, social life, quality of training, individual support Tec, tips anything please

Re: Auditioning for 2017
Hi all, well done to all of your DC'S on their success so far. My daughter will be starting 3rd year at Bird in September and is living in a lovely four bedroom flat with another 3rd year and a 1st year in September. Due to the fourth girl dropping out they now have one room available for another 1st year girl preferably on degree or diploma. They have been extremely happy there and are advertising on the freshers page this evening. Only downside is that the landlady needs a definite by the end of the week. If anyone is interested or needs more info please let me know. Student accommodation is very hard to find d in Sidcup so we are quite confident it will go quickly. Good luck to everyone

Re: Auditioning for 2017
Hi my daughter is off to the Hammond in September to do the 3 year BA course in musical theatre and performance we went to the Uni of Chester open day on Saturday and had a good look around the accomodation. There is partnership accomodation and I beleive most of the Hammond Students stay at the Tramways my worry is they want the first months rent on the 1 August which is £1140. Also I was wondering if anyone knows Any more about the company fresh student living and if it's best to apply to them directly or get referred to them by the uni accomodation Team ?

Our DD auditioned at the Hammond but unfortunately fidget an offer. At the time we did look at accommodation and Chester is expensive compared to some other Unis. Personally from experience I would put DD where her other 1st years are living as she needs to be around her course mates for socialising and group work. She may feel left out and communication could be an issue if she isn't around.

Hi thanks for that my thoughts were exactly that she was thinking of putting Grosvenor down on the form but like you say if she was on her own I would think she'd feel isolated. I am just concerned should she put down Tramways on her uni application or go direct through the partnership company nowkzgirl wrote:HiMummyofthreeMummyofthree wrote:Hi my daughter is off to the Hammond in September to do the 3 year BA course in musical theatre and performance we went to the Uni of Chester open day on Saturday and had a good look around the accomodation. Just apply for Tramways yourself, you don't need to go through the Uni, my daughter is going to Chichester and we have secured a studio flat like tramways through a letting agency. It tells you on Tramways how to apply. Doing it yourself doesn't affect student finance.
