Sorry Martint, I was away for the day. Anything special you would know or any question? Their way of functioning is rather different and a bit difficult to understand at first but their website is quite complete. Maybe I should fill in specific blanks... Let me know...

Hi Afab
Please can you help me with the LSC audition process? I understand from the website that there are 4 genres for the recalls? Do they choose which genre they want to see you for? Thank you xxxx

One of DDs friends has been offered a place on the degree course at Bird today, she was on the reserve list so there is still movement happening. Good luck to those still waiting, fingers crossed for you.

Hi, the first audition is a general one with ballet, jazz and contemporary and singing is optional. You can chose to audition for more than one specialty. For example, when DD1 auditioned, she picked MT, contemporay and jazz and she was offered a recall in MT and jazz at her choice. She picked MT. When DD2 auditioned, she chose not to sing and applied for ballet so was offered a ballet recall audition.

What you audition for in the recall has no influence on what you do in the first year if you get in. The core subjects are the same for everyone but the choice of options is very wide. In second year, the core subjects are still the same and the options you pick will influence your 3rd year choice i.e. your specialisation...

So to answer your question, LSC does chose what genre they want to see you for in the genres you've specified you're interested in.

Hope it makes sense and helps...

It is great to see the final results in writing, DD did MT diploma and received Distinction* Distinction* Distinction* can't ask for more than that. Her East 15 place was conditional but then changed to unconditional a week ago, not sure why. Anyhow, UCAS is showing it as CONFIRMED and that's all that matters \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

After a very long wait my DD on reserve list for GSA Acting last week was offered a place we are over the moon given her first time of trying and only just 18!! Now accommodation is proving hard as it appears that all campus is full and not much outside either so if anyone can help with Guildford Surrey we would be grateful! Its annoying because on open day we were told all first year students were guaranteed a place on campus!!
Congratulations on all those that have now gained offers from reserve lists!!

My advice would be for your dad to contact student services they are excellent at Surrey and get the support of them behind her. ( maybe tell them she is not confident enough to live off campus or finances won't stretch ) I'm sure something will come good . A friend at a different uni was told this and within 48 hours had a place . Keep on the case and don't give up as living off campus for the first year is not ideal and expensive . Good luck and a huge well done to her.

Fantastic news for your dd Lindy. Make sure she is on the waiting list for accommodation, there will be some students who just don't turn up for the start of term. There will also be facebook freshers pages for GSA and the University, someone might be seeking a flatmate, get her to join. Good luck.

If you are still struggling with accommodation in Guildford would it be worth contacting Italia Conti and PPA in case they have any students that are looking for people to share accommodation?

I am sure she would rather share with students from GSA but may be worth considering.
