Staying in London for Dance College

My DD is 16 and will be going to a Dance College in Woolwich in September to study for 3 years. The College has said that she can stay with host families at £120-£130 per week to include meals and washing. Can anyone tell me - do you only pay for the weeks that they're staying or do you also have to pay for half term weeks and the month that they seem to get off in between terms? Do they send them off with a packed lunch or does this vary?

It could well vary and you would be wise to check with any host families you are interested in. Where my DD goes (not in Woolwich) under 18s are supposed to stay in houses with live-in landladies. My DD was only charged for actual weeks of term - not holidays. Most of the landladies/host families seem to do it like that though payment was done so that is/ was spread over 10 months rather than actually paying each month and some if you are in receipt of DADA or student loans ask for termly payments. All the ones I know of that provide food and washing actual provide breakfast and evening meal only on weekends and full board on weekends. My DD used to take packed lunches but she was responsible for buying that. Usually they get space in a cupboard and fridge - again depending on the family. DDs landlady always bought the bread too that DD could use or sandwiches as she felt it was silly to have the family buying bread and each of the girls boarding with her but DD was the only one of her friends who got bread. Generally speaking washing was done at least twice a week but not ironing. As I say I think you will need check out details as it is possible that a retainer fee will be paid during holidays - it depends how it is organised.

Hi I hope I am posting in right place
My dd is also attending millenium in September but I am a little worried about her going into shared housing. I wonder if anyone can tell me do they try to put a few of the new ones in together, or do they put them in with the older students?
Any help or advice would be appreciated
Thanks
