Fabulous frock! Thanks for sharing. I bet it moves beautifully too.
Is that your DD's dance partner too? Nosey, aren't I...sorry!

Nope that's her Dad!
He teaches her & partners her for medallist comps
DD hardly ever has a partner - she occasionally picks up a partner for a day & does very well (nearly always finals) but not a regular one really

Ah! So is that where she gets her talent from? Or do you have dance history too?
Questions, questions...but you have to admit that you are a rather inspirational mum with a super-talented daughter, so you can't blame me for being curious, can you?

No I'm crap
I did Ballet from about 4 to about 12 but I have unstable hips and my left leg kept falling out my hip socket so I had to give up; I started Ballroom at 16 as my (very short) cousin needed someone to dance with at Uni and have dabbled every since (meeting DH on the dance floor). I can't sing either rather like Eric Morecambe I sing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order (actually I'm not sure about the notes)
My dad reckons there are 4 types of Dancer
Those who can't dance & don't know the steps(he bravely suggests this is my mum)
Those who can dance but don't know the steps (he thinks this is him)
Those who know the steps but can't dance (he thinks this is me)
Those who know the steps and can dance (this is DH & DD)
I think I'm a facilitator; I met & married DH and helped him become a teacher (he qualified at 39 - he's now 61) & now I'm helping DD do what she wants (even if I'd rather she was a solicitor or accountant)
Thank you for the compliment; but I'm sure I only do what everyone else's mum does (just with spreadsheets)

DD being geeky did a spread sheet to come up with the minimum number of speeches/songs that ticked all the different boxes when auditioning for drama school!Katymac wrote:I know, Reduce, Reuse & Recycle
I'm trying to do the same with monologues & songs for auditions

Me too...but that's a whole other story. Wonder where he is now?Katymac wrote:I know - I was a child bride
Thanks for sharing your story - I love the dancer-types. I think I know the steps and think I can dance, but my kids, video evidence and the mirror tell me I am sadly deluded. Not that it stops me
And I love the idea of being a facilitator. I describe my job as making the space for others to succeed in, so maybe we have something in common.
