BalletBoyz documentary christmas day on more4

Post by Hecouldshine »

More4 have a very promising evening of dance lined up for Christmas Day, including the BalletBoyz latest documentary all about the auditions, rehearsing and first tour of their new male company The Talent. It is scheduled for 11.05pm.

Info from more4 website -

Matthew Bourne’s Christmas – at 9pm

This Christmas ballet film, conceived by Bourne, celebrates his power to imaginatively transform ballet, taking dance and dancers off the stage into the studio, bringing together projections, animation and an intimate shooting style to produce a distinctive new way of presenting dance on screen.
Those who know Bourne's stage work can spot extracts from many of his biggest hits, but for audiences less familiar with his work this is simply a journey through a series of magical worlds where stories are told through dance.

Akram Khan: Homeland – at 10pm

Desh, meaning Homeland in Bengali, is an exploration of acclaimed contemporary dancer and choreographer Akram Khan's British/Bangladeshi heritage and is his most personal work to date.
It draws multiple tales of land, nation, resistance and convergence into the body and voice of one man trying to find his balance in an unstable world. Moving between Britain and Bangladesh, Khan weaves threads of experience and myth into a surreal world of surprising connection.
This film follows Akram and his production team at each stage of the creative process, beginning with a research trip to Bangladesh as they gradually develop a visual and sonic celebration of one man's desire to reconnect with his heritage.

BalletBoyz: Next Generation – at 11.05pm

Filmed over two years, this observational documentary follows the rise of an all-new male dance company from first auditions, through bootcamp, training and creating work, to their performance in Addis Abba, Ethiopia.
Altitude sickness, broken bones, rolling power cuts and a punishing schedule are only some of the hurdles faced by the talent as they bring the BalletBoyz to Ethiopia and stage a performance in the prestigious City Hall.
He could go and he could shine, not just stay here counting time,
Son, we've got the chance to let him live
