the Knight and the Burning Pestle

On at the Globe in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at the moment

I had three of the best hours of my life on Sunday watching this..
Bawdy, hilarious, very clever, superbly acted, I could wax lyrical for ever.
What a fabulous inaugural season this is shaping up to be. The story is basically a group of Jacobean players trying to perform a play, who are heckled and basically taken over, plot and cast by a grocer (Phil Daniels) and his wife (Pauline Mclynn - from Father Ted fame).
When I got the tickets I had no clue I would be sitting right behind them being typical annoying audience member, it was hysterical!
It is just pure escapism for 3 hours, well worth seeing as it is impeccably staged and faithful to the time, the whole company are so well cast.
If there are any tickets, grab them quick.
The standing in the SWP is quite high up and I wouldn't fancy it for 3 hours, but if you don't mind, the tickets are only a tenner for those.
