Re: Mary Poppins
There has been a casting call circulated, but it seems to be going via agents first. I imagine there will be something on Jo Hawes' website about direct submissions in the near future though.
General brief is:
Jane Banks – feisty about 11, great acting and singing, some movement, between 4 foot 6 - 4 foot 10 maximum! Fair skinned.
Michael Banks – about 8 / 9, great singing and acting, some movement, under 4 foot 8, unbroken voice. Fair skinned.
Auditions/recalls/finals in March & April.

Re: Mary Poppins
No, I'm afraid I don't have any information about dates.
Re: Mary Poppins
Think it will be rehearsals from sometime in September and then it's usually an initial 6 month performance contract, which would be from when it opens - 23rd October. But there are no specific dates yet that I've seen.

Re: Mary Poppins
Does anyone know what they are required to do at the audition?
Re: Mary Poppins
I suspect it will be sing an age appropriate song from musical theatre acapella, and perhaps a monologue for first round. Some dance will be required but maybe not until later rounds. I am only making assumptions based on plenty of other MT auditions though! Sometimes they run more of a workshop style process if their numbers are smaller as well.

Re: Mary Poppins
Well I think we can rest assured that the numbers will be pretty high for this one
Re: Mary Poppins
Does fair skin mean blonde and blue eyes? I have a light brown hair and brown eyed child with slight olive skin. Does that mean I shouldn’t bother applying? Also we don’t have an agent. Would that matter? Are they going to decide already early on on the kids that come through agencies? Thanks in advance xx

Re: Mary Poppins
Nininana, I don't think previous Jane Banks' have been uniformly blonde/blue-eyed, so I wouldn't let that put you off applying. I suspect the "fair-skinned" description is a way of indicating that they won't be considering fully colour-blind casting for this production.
Having an agent or not shouldn't make a difference. Jo Hawes is the casting director, and she is usually very supportive of auditioning unrepresented children. If you keep an eye on the castings page of Jo's website, details of how to apply should appear there:

Thanks Fredablogs. That is most useful information.

Re: Mary Poppins
The information I have (via DS's agent) is that first rounds of auditions will be held on a single date in late March. This casting director doesn't usually make a distinction between children with and without agents, so I would be very surprised if there were separate audition rounds planned for children submitted through agencies.
Re: Mary Poppins
Wonderful! Such useful information! I won’t panic about trying to get an agent then! Hopefully we will get an invite but who knows? Thanks again and good luck to your DS. Xxxx
