YADA - Yorkshire Academy of Dramatic Arts is shaking things up and doing things differently. It was created out of the need to provide serious and practical Actor Training which we found very much missing from many local drama groups. Here at YADA we take acting technique very seriously. We have a small number of students on each course which is provided in our own well equipped studio in Huby (midway between Harrogate and Leeds).

We are holding a one-off Open Audition on Saturday 22nd October to find 5 talented, serious and committed Actors between the ages of 12-18 to join our existing company in the Apprentice Year (see below). Classes are held on Thursday evening: 6.30-8pm term time.

Please follow this link below to apply for an audition - the places are very limited for this so be sure to book early

Here's how it works:

Yorkshire Academy of Dramatic Arts offers year-long programs of Acting classes for young people aged 12-18, taught by Bryan Bounds, professional actor and teacher, soon to appear in the David Tennant film, ‘Mad To Be Normal.’

The Apprentice Year

A small group of Apprentice students focus on the growth of their personal and relational skills, creative imagination, voice, movement and speech.

Autumn: Relaxation techniques and the Stanislavsky system of Acting (‘The Method’)
Winter: Meisner training used by film and TV actors, culminating in a videotaped audition monologue
Spring: Script analysis and rehearsal techniques
Summer: the course culminates in a public performance of a youth drama.

Advanced levels:
Year Two: Artist students work on the use of heightened language, accents and characterisation.
Year Three: Thespian students spend the majority of their time on performance.
