Just wading into the height debate eleanorrigby66 and TomS ....
Both my dd and ds are tallish and it has definitely worked against my ds as she has been too tall to go for certain roles - sometimes just by 1cm! She did Les Mis when she was 8, but certainly would have been too tall if she had gone for it now, at 10. But my ds was a Friederich in Sound of music, playing a 14 year old when he was only 11 so it can work for a boy if they are tall I think, because they can play an older boy but their voice hasn't broken yet. Having said that, he is currently rehearsing for a west end musical and is the tallest of the 3 boys so I think he has been lucky to get the parts despite his height. And my dd is currently in a great play in London, and although she is playing a 7 yo, there was no height statement at all - and how lovely that there wasn't!
