If you enjoyed the Hunger Games (I loved the books as well as the film) thne you or your teenage children may want to try out these 2 books (a third is out next year) - "Divergent" and "Insurgent" by Veronica Roth. They too are set in a dystopian future and have a really good female heroine as in the Hunger Games. I enjoyed both as did my (23 yr old) DD. They have an interesting concept, good characters and plenty of twist, turns and cliffhangers (I can't wait for Book 3    )

Interestingly they are filming the first next year - I think they have cast the teenage girl from the Descendants as the lead.

Ditto my younger Dd who had a Kindle for Christmas. You should read them after him!

A film of Book 1 is in production at the moment - looking forward to seeing if it is as good as the book.

I have also read a similar trilogy, called Delirium, Pandemonium, Requiem and enjoyed it. It again is set in the future in a time when everyone gets vaccinated when a teenager against falling in love - which is seen as a dangerous disease which makes people act strangely. A very interesting concept!

If you have enjoyed The Hunger Games and the Diverget books then this is another trilogy to read :D

The film of Divergent is out soon. Seen the trailer and it looks good.

I agree about the Maze Runner books. Love these dystopian trilogies :)

Thanks for the tip. My 13 year old boy has almost run out of things to read for his age bracket now (of things he's interested in anyway....) and he doesn't much fancy chick-lit vampire love stories. These look perfect.

A real hit in our household too. Usually we get library books but the recommendations had been so strong i knew they'd get read and reread for years to come.

I have recently read Half Bad by Sally Green which is excellent - another one highly recommended.

Yes I enjoyed Half Bad as well. I was lucky enough to get a free copy from a mumsnet giveaway :D I particularly admired her skill in writing the first 16 pages in with a second person point of view =D>

I didn't realise Maze Runner was being filmed. I've just borrowed it from the library and half way through atm.
