swanny, there have been London rounds already over the past couple of months. Presumably they haven't found what they're after and are widening the search. I don't suppose there's any harm in applying if you are London-based and haven't been seen for it yet.
Great part for whoever gets it.

Re: Casting again for Dr Dolittle
Interesting that this role isn't cast yet - there have been at least 2 lots of "first rounds" already. DS was under consideration for it, but looks like they've decided to go older/taller than the original brief.

Re: How to do this self-tape?
Thanks for the suggestions, ScoobyDoo and Moosmum. There's no dialogue at all in the scenes apart from a single word. The scene directions are almost entirely a description of what the character is seeing and how they react. That's why I thought reading out at least the parts about what the characte...

How to do this self-tape?
DS has been asked to do a self-tape for a TV role as we can't attend the audition session. He's been given sides for 2 short scenes, but I'm at a bit lost on how to film them because there is so little dialogue. One scene has a single word of dialogue, the other has no lines at all. Both scenes are ...

Re: Not hearing back after Recall
Sorry RoseTowers, no naming and shaming - hope you understand.
I will say it isn't any of the CDs who tend to receive positive comments on their handling of auditions from people on this forum.

Re: Not hearing back after Recall
I can just about understand CDs not having the time to send a "no" to hundreds of children after a first round (though in this day and age with ways to automate mass emails from spreadsheets etc., how hard can it be?). However I do think it is reasonable to expect a response either way aft...

Re: Spirit Young Performers Company and Sharpe Academy
Spirit Young Performers is excellent - well-organised, fantastic teachers, lots of like-minded peers for a child serious about MT training. The standard of teaching is high but classes are still great fun. Quite a few pupils travel from outside London to attend each week and consider it well worth t...

Re: Passing the time
Excellent suggestion, biscuitsneeded. In DS's current show he isn't part of a large team of children, and I do miss having a group of other parents to hang out with on show evenings (means I have to be responsible and go back to my office and work rather than sit around gossiping over coffee!).

Re: PA secondary schools - academics
We have been looking at SYTS for DS who has just finished Y5. At an open morning last autumn, they said that the academic tests are to give an indication of ability and whether a child would cope with a full academic workload condensed into 3 days rather than 5. They gave the impression the academic...

Re: Which agency for theatre, tv rather than commercials?
I agree, tikto, and I'm sure DS's agency does submit clients for adverts, but what they publicise on their website and social media are clients' stage and screen successes rather than TVC roles. It seemed from the OP that newgirl was asking about agencies that don't focus primarily on advert work, a...

Re: Which agency for theatre, tv rather than commercials?
Ds is with Byron's and in 2 years he's had a couple of dozen auditions in total for theatre/TV/film, with a fairly even split between stage and screen, but only about 3 castings for commercials. It might just be that DS doesn't have a "commercial" face, but I do get the sense from the agen...

Re: Licensing for work during school holidays
Thanks, swanny. He would definitely need a licence as the criteria for exemption don't fit, but it's good to know I wouldn't need to chase a letter. All hypothetical anyway unless DS gets the nod, just trying to be prepared .

Licensing for work during school holidays
Can anyone advise whether a permission letter from school is still required to licence work on dates that fall entirely within school holidays?
(Possibly a daft question but it's a situation that's never arisen before with DS so I have no idea!)

Re: Stage Box Elite
I know a couple of children who have been in WE shows who were with Stagebox Elite previously and thought it was very good. If you are within striking distance of London I can recommend Spirit Young Performers Company. Unlike Stagebox who only run workshops in the holidays, Spirit runs classes throu...
