Just to add that when my DD's friend had to go to London to be measured for ger prosthetics for Dr Who, my DD went with her - mainly for company as it was a long day. I would say let her go - on the provision that she has a friend get all the work for her and she catches up as soon as she gets back. That first week will be laid back anyway as it is so soon after exams.
