Robin Hood

I am a HUGE fan of Russell Crowe and ai loved this film. He is very good, even though his English accent veers widely all over the place - Geordie, Irish, Midlands, Yorkshire to name but a few    . However, I live him as an actor, and if you liked him in Gladiator than you will like t...

Re: Social Services Abuse of Power

I agree with you mathsmum, my thoughtx exactly. I don't like individually naming people on the internet either. It's an unfortunate fact that sometimes social workers, like anyone else, get it wrong. But often their inaction can lead to tragedy. So as I don't know enough about the case, i would pref...

Re: Not too sure about something

Just to add that when my DD's friend had to go to London to be measured for ger prosthetics for Dr Who, my DD went with her - mainly for company as it was a long day. They were fine about it, welcomed my DD, gave her coffee etc. No one said anything (and she saw a werewolf, cyberman costume etc :lol...

Re: Not too sure about something

I think it would be perfectly acceptable to take someone with you. I am sure you - and your mum- would feel happier.

(BTW - just because you are 18 doesn't mean your Mum will stp worrying :D . In fact I think the worrying as you get older ;) )

Re: Time off college?

I would say let her go - on the provision that she has a friend get all the work for her and she catches up as soon as she gets back. That first week will be laid back anyway as it is so soon after exams.

Re: Filming abroad/Worries

If she does end up going, she can also keep in touch with her school via internet. We have had kids, stuck abroad due to the ash crisis, and we have been e mailing them work etc and have been in daily touch. It has made us realise this is possible now in a way it wasn't before. Great opportunity for...

Re: BTEC or A level

Summer 66, I know how frustrated your DD must have been, that's why I always advise doing your homewaork on the course and the teachers. My DDs BTEC culdn't have been different, many of her tachers had gone to Drama school and they ran the course on those lines - blacks to be worn at all times, no e...

Re: BTEC or A level

BTEC is accepted as equivalent to A levels by universities as well as drama schools. I know of students with appropriate BTECs get into courses such as Dentistry, English, Sports Science etc. Distinction at BTEC is worth the same number as UCAS points as an A grade at A level. I know your question w...

Re: American Idol

I also think this year's parogramme is very weak. part of the reason is i think that Simon just seems to be going through the motions as its his last one. He doesn't seem to care very much. But agree, few of the singers have that WOW factor they usuually have.
