Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019 - 6th Form
Thank you for your reply as that's reassuring. I know it's becoming a very popular place and getting a great reputation. Sadly we're seeing Team Elle so will miss your ds. But good luck to him! DD now attends their Sunday afternoon school and we are certainly impressed with that, hence her wish to ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019 - 6th Form
We are seeing Sweeney Todd on Sunday and Legally Blonde in May at EDA. Is your ds in either of those? My dd wants to audition there but we're not sure about funding and transport. Their production of Millie was really excellent. But two questions we have about EDA are - how do they group for classe...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019 - 6th Form
Beware of the academic trap over the performing route. My DS is also academic and would have achieved solid A level results, however he was miserable and unsettled taking A levels. A level route has always been our plan, yet he felt he had made the wrong decision not long after starting 6th form. lo...

There have been rumours and accusations for months.

Have you researched some of the more specialist dance companies and troupes
That might be a way forward...

Re: Dance GCSE choice for PA career.
I would say dance GCSE is more "movement" GCSE. It is nothing like anything resembling dance that I am familiar with..maybe a bit of contemporary. The choreography component can be fun. My DS did it as it fitted in well with other choices, but I can tell you your DD won't be missing anythi...

Re: LAMDA grades after leaving home
No need to spend money on LAMDA exams when taking acting lessons at EDA. My DS went up to silver medal level and basically apart from some valuable tuition time, it’s counted for nothing but expense. Piano? hopefully but time wise he might struggle, DS was hoping to continue Irish dance but he doesn...

Re: KIDS ON BROADWAY HOLIDAY TO NEW YORK NEW YORK
Can’t quite get my head around the price :-k ... for what? You can organise private singing lessons when in NYC with any number of Broadway performers ( we’ve done it ) check their websites, DS has had lessons with Lindsay Mendez, one to one at a reasonable price. There are also other things you can...

Re: Dee Boss Talent
The point I am making is this ... #-o There are reputable agencies who charge a fee!!!! Charging a fee doesn’t automatically make them dodgy, you may not want or agree with a fee, I don’t feel strongly either way BUT please don’t tarnish a perfectly valid agency with a slur about their reputation, j...

Re: Dee Boss Talent
I really wouldn't even consider joining an agency that charges a fee. It really is an unspoken rule. Entirely your choice and entirely your unspoken rule. However please don't lump together agencies who do charge as not reputable, the ones I am familiar with certainly are reputable. My DS has been i...

Re: Dee Boss Talent
Deeboss are reputable and lots of reputable agencies do charge a joining or setting up fee.
Whether you WANT
to pay or not is a totally different matter, but its not uncommon, especially with children's agencies.

Re: Mental health in performing arts
I wrote a long and detailed response, but I've deleted it as most people here simply won't understand. I've been a member of the forum for quite a long time, and really thought that as an employer of young people, and somebody who used to help train them - it was handy for everyone to have one male...

Re: Mental health in performing arts
Please don’t feel bad IbM, it’s clear to me why you posted and I’m not sure the response needed to be quite so harsh, making you feel awful for no good reason. It’s something we all need to be acutely aware of around young people, not just in performing arts. A young man committed suicide just after...

Re: Dance question
Thank you all. He very much wants to be an actor, always has since he was 4!! He isn't much of a dancer and doesn't enjoy it. He's very focused on his drama, does weekend school where they act and sing but no dance and is also doing LAMDA. It's just very hard being told he must dance if he wants to...

Re: Dance question
If his main interest is drama, and he wants to be an actor who sings. Then I don’t believe he needs to dance at any serious level. Being able to move well, follow direction is important and some basic dance ability might be helpful there. Even the Globe cast dance a jig at the end of each show and t...
