Re: School Absence

Speak to the council who issue the license. They can override the school. The school cannot just say no.

You must have had the same agent as we had at some point! :)

Re: How to tell your agent you’re leaving?

Why don't you ask how many castings you have been put forward for ? You could say that one casting in a year is not great and you're wondering why you're not being seen. Ask for specific examples so they don't just insist they've sent you for anything suitable. It won't stop you going but it might g...

Re: How to tell your agent you’re leaving?

I wrote and thanked the previous agency for their hard work and asked when I could move ds spotlight profile across to new agency. I asked because they had put ds up for suitable castings and I felt they had done a good job. Not sure what I would do if they hadn't done their job. :-k

Re: Does performing professionally as a child affect your chances of becoming a performer as an adult?

do you think it helps for long-term career prospects as a performer to have performed professionally as a child? Many 'child' stars fail miserably in the performing arts when they grow. The public wants them to be still the cute, young child that they were, and doesn't like to accept that they've g...

Re: What to do when parents are unsupportive?

It sounds like they are being supportive of her as her parents pay for dance, singing and acting classes, come to watch her shows and take her to rehearsals etc To my mind it sounds like they are being practical in talking about the difficulties she may face in the future. I'm not sure how long it i...

Interesting read. However, as website fees are under discussion, A&J management don't charge a website fee anymore.

Re: Comparing exam scores acrosss boards

Hi my DD has just done Grade 2 Ballet Tap and Modern with IDTA. She did will with high 80’s and Distinctions. A friend who’s daughter is with ISTD and RAD really cheese me off by saying that her score was only high because IDTA examiners are more generous and mark differently to ISTD and RAD.x Why ...

Re: Mental health in performing arts

What an emotive issue this is and it seems that many people have differing viewpoints. We obviously all want the best for our kids and discussion on this forum is only going to lead to a more positive future for them. In my opinion, the only problems come when we assume we are 'right' and don't want...

She's chosen a different path. What a brilliant choice to have made. My dd loves performing but is just as passionate about English and has chosen university too. Good luck to your dd.

Re: Matilda Tour London Callback

Thanks Iggyandbubble, I'm sorry you weren't able to go for the London show. Ds has been put back into the penultimate round which he already got through for the tour only two weeks ago. It's hard enough to get a no after the final, it would be worse to get a no for the round before that having got s...

Re: Matilda Tour London Callback

They originally auditioned 1000 kids from all over the country so I think they did brilliantly to have got to the final recall, whatever the outcome. We were told that all the kids that got to the final for the tour were incredibly talented and it was simply a matter of pulling all the pieces into a...
