I agree... but what if you were told your DH could be selected to get a good west end gig if you paid £1088 ?
On the hush, though...
Would you pay it?

What would you pay?
They say every man has his price (and woman too, I imagine). I came across a service recently, offering to write students essays, for a fee. A 3000-word, 2:1 standard essay from essaywriter.co.uk would set an undergraduate back £362, rising to £1088 for 11am next-day delivery. It struck me as unfair...

Re: Can I ask my agent to put me forward for a certian job?
Squeaky wheel gets the grease :) as long as you ask nicely! 'If you think I'd be suitable for this job, please could you put me forward?' is perfect, IMO. If your agent has anything about them they will either forward you or explain why they haven't. Anyone could get uppity at your proactive approac...

Re: Misunderstanding
Seeing as you are "very pressed for time at the moment so I would have never agreed to do this if I had thought it was extra work", then (if I were you) I wouldn't do it They'll have plenty of other people and you will get plenty of other work, don't worry Nobody in their right mind could ...

Re: LAMDA exams
Hi Nicola, I suppose I am not keen! I feel very strongly about it, too, so apologies to people if my opinions come across as contentious. Yes, I do think there's something wrong with teaching actors in isolation. You can't generate interaction, reaction, listening, sponteneity, improvisation, focus-...

Re: What do you look for?
I turned down acting work this week, as I'm too busy !
I look for local, adequately paid and regular these days.
Back in the day, when I was younger and didn't have a family I would take anything and everything!

Re: LAMDA exams
Some of it certainly depends on the teacher, but I think it is the syllabus which is causing the damage. I can honestly say, in my experience, that LAMDA students seem to be focused in completely the wrong areas. In order to get higher marks, students must inevitably jump through certain assessment ...

Re: LAMDA exams
Hi, re: "stilted" I completely agree with pg on this one- I have seen various young actors with distinctions and merits, certified by LAMDA, deliver what I would call "mechanical" performances. I have begun to see it as quite stylised and mannered public speaking- it has very lit...
