Re: RADA Auditions

4,000 for 30 places  I think central and GSA are somewhere around there too aren't they? Scary stuff! Does anyone know how many are recalled? Is the first cut the deepest? DD's audition ran very late ( a couple of hours) so had to buy a new (rush hour) ticket home...will be buying very flexib...

Re: Answering audition questions

I think it means taped together and marked...check out youtube for instruction videos, my DDs know how to do it but I'm clueless!

Re: The how long between application and audition thread :)

Lots of luck to your DC Nextinline and Katymac, after all the stress they will be ready to collapse over Christmas! Artsed were around 7-8 weeks between application and audition. So RADA definitely wins the speediest auditioner prize!!! So for the benefit of any future googlers, make sure your DC ar...

Re: After all that... you get offered Foundation!!

First of all, many congrats to your DD, a final audition let alone a foundation offer at Oxford isn't easy to achieve, she clearly has lots of talent. Secondly, I feel your pain, so near but yet so far! It sounds like a great back up ( finances permitting) and she has several auditions to go, so sti...

Re: September 2015

As I understand it, it just needs to be under 2 minutes. So if you're happy that your song shows off your voice enough in a shorter time (verse and chorus for example) that's totally fine.
Good luck :)

Re: The how long between application and audition thread :)

Yes, I think we are reaching imminent explosion point! Cambridge is a long shot and seems even more unlikely than the hugely unlikely RADA, I know the stats don't support that but the people she's up against are so self-selected, anyone without a string of A* doesn't apply. She has an offer at Brist...

Re: The how long between application and audition thread :)

That'll teach me to be smug! DD has just had RADA audition through by post having only posted the application form the day before yesterday. They are lightening quick there, audition is in less than two weeks   ](*,) She has a v tricky Uni interview( with a written exam) that week too ...

Re: The how long between application and audition thread :)

BOVTS replied with an audition date super-quickly, it has come through for mid January, so 7-8 weeks from application.

Fairly well spread out so far... still 3 to hear from though.

Re: Answering audition questions

I'm not sure if it's more the straight acting courses (RADA, LAMDA. BOV, Guildhall) that look for life experience, for musical theatre I'd have thought youth and fitness would be desirable!

Re: Answering audition questions

It's interesting about the degree first issue. DD did a Summer school at RADA and the course leader said that they would no longer take anyone for the BA Hons with a previous degree because of funding issues. I wonder whether that will change things? Maybe more colleges will introduce 2 year post-gr...

Re: Answering audition questions

Not much help I'm afraid, my instinct is that they're looking for enthusiasm and commitment and are surely aware that they have to apply to many. DD did look at some audition blogs for information/inspiration about questions, that may help, although as far as I can see from skimming a few blogs no o...

Re: The how long between application and audition thread :)

Applications in, two auditions confirmed Central and LAMDA For the benefit of others DD had a choice of dates for audition for Central, they ranged between 4 and 5 weeks after her UCAS entry went in. She chose a regional LAMDA date so that was set on application. Will update the others as they are p...

Re: September 2015

Have seen on the Twittersphere that some Laine's offers have been sent. Any DC already in the wonderful position of have in a place and funding already?
