Re: New York - Broadway Shows

I signed up for e-mail updates/early sales etc with roundabout theatre...they're a very active production company and did Violet with Sutton Foster as well as Into The Woods recently and Cabaret with Alan Cumming, which we saw (he was stunning). The tickets ended up at West End prices, worth checkin...

Re: Drama Degree at Uni or Drama School?

We've recently been through this with DD. I think University drama courses are more theoretical, the study of theatre etc with far less practical skills development. Also, no agent showcase at the end. So from a pure acting perspective a drama school course ( many also provide degree courses) is arg...

Re: DD needs a new audition monologue, help?

There's a play about an older teenage schoolgirl, called Chewing Gum Dreams, or something like that. It's all a monologue so plenty to choose from, the woman who wrote it and initially performed it (it's personal experience) is black and it does include some racial references so perfect for a teenag...

Re: Spots/acne

I had acne for much of my life, despite being a doctor I just put up with it. At 40 I realised I wasn't going to grow out of it and went on Roaccutane and it transformed my life, I wish I'd taken it at twenty. It's a strong medication with side effects and not for everyone but I would encourage anyo...

Re: Advice on Auditions, Rejections etc

NYT is around £450 for the course and around £450 for accommodation in London if you need it, they will also need to buy food as they self cater. It was a real eye-opener for my 14 year old DD but she loved it! NYMT varies depending on the length of the course but is an eye-watering £1250-1750 to in...

I'm not sure but I think the school would be part time for the pupils, not part time for the owner IYSWIM :)

Re: Leeds Based Agent

Also Lara Chapman has an agency, Urban Kids casting I think, a few girls from our dance school go there and have had CBBC/advert castings. I think Scala has historically been the big one for kids in the area though.

Re: September 2015

Good luck to your DD Katymac, late auditions sound like a sensible way to make the very most of her foundation course. I remember Amanda's DD did the same last year and it worked :)
Hoping Millennium managed to get her application this time, after the Xmas post shenanigans!

Re: September 2015

A friend's DD was there last week, I'll see if I can encourage her to post but in the meantime I'll tell you the snippets I heard: I understand the acting was the usual workshop type stuff, being a tree ( not literally but that kind of thing) but no monologues. For the music part they each sang thei...
