Re: Auditioning for 2016

I think you do have to use the school for UCAS. DD applied for CSSD and unis (academic courses) on her UCAS with school reference and academic statement (albeit for English and Drama so plenty of performing stuff too)- She got an audition and recall, I think they just audition everyone and I'm sure ...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Again, not an expert, but I understood legit to refer to the vocal quality, it's a term used more often in America. I think that "Legit" in singing is a kind of classical, lyrical style like Rodger's and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe etc rather than more belty stuff. `so "The Sound of ...

Re: Dissertation ideas

It could be interesting to look into the impact either commercially or physically/emotionally on the different child licensing laws in the UK and USA?
What the parameters of your dissertation meant to be?

Re: Auditioning for 2016

The only issue with high A level grades and drama school admission is that the audition process is long, arduous and involves many days away from school, taking time away from academic pursuits. DD initially applied to Uni and drama schools, however she rapidly realised (having got a high offer from...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

I think it's a numbers game with GSA. In a previous year they offered too many places expecting many to go to Arts Ed and the like and were too full. Since 2013, universities have been able to offer unlimited numbers of places to students who achieve ABB or above at A-level, so I'm guessing that exp...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Yes sorry, definitely wasn't saying the ones you were applying for weren't great, they absolutely are. I was just mentioning other options to spread the net a little wider. It seems with drama school auditions they are often looking for someone that 'fits' which may be different in each school, so t...

Re: Stagebox Leeds

I'm from Yorkshire and know the people who run this and have friends and pupils (I teach drama) who have taken part in the workshops, my DDs are sadly too old. They are extremely well run and all the kids seem to have loads of fun, it is not scary or intimidating. The standard is high but not all th...

Re: Do LAMDA exams help get you into drama school?

I think all of those things go on the personal statement/on the form for non UCAS drama schools.

Re: Do LAMDA exams help get you into drama school?

You can go in at a higher level, Grade 8, might be a bit full-on, 6 or 7 easier -but definitely doable for a talented. motivated individual.

Re: Do LAMDA exams help get you into drama school?

I don't think having the exams makes any difference at all- and I say that as a LAMDA teacher! However, the process of choosing monologues that suit you ( as happens particularly in the medal grades in LAMDA) learning them, understanding them, getting under the skin of the character and researching ...

Pandora, isn't your DD going to go for Arts Ed? At the moment it seems to be very influential in terms of agents and jobs after qualification.

Squash, has your Dd already got an Urdang degree offer but would prefer diploma, or have I misunderstood?
