Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

I am so relieved to see a return to face to face auditions - how else do people know how to choose a college? So important to get a true feel of a place. Fingers crossed others are also goi g to go back to proper auditions. Think that will depend on the college. Daughter is on a foundation (straigh...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Hi all, jumping on post as my DD will be starting her auditions soon for next year's intake.......scary! I just wanted to ask do most people go to the open days? We are in Cornwall so to go to each of the schools she's interested in just for a morning or afternoon will be a bit of a nightmare, shou...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

From what I've read in here before accommodation for Performers can be difficult to find for first years, a problem that became more difficult when they increased their degree numbers so few years ago. As they move into 2nd and 3rd years they grab early on when they become aware of who is moving out...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

I am back joining this auditioning thread. Daughter got a degree offer that we were all set to take and then 3.5 weeks ago got an email from a 'bigger' name offering her foundation. She has decided to do that instead.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

My daughter would have been moving this weekend in anticipation of starting her degree course one day next week but 4 weeks ago she got an email offering her a foundation somewhere else and has decided to take that instead. It has a later start date, so she's also home for the next couple of weeks.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I have to say that is one advantage of auditioning a year later than sixth form you know your grades and UCAS points ahead of your audition. Which fetches me to my next question. Daughter got a Merit for her UAL L3 extended diploma. If we've done this correctly on the UCAS site that equals 120 UCAS ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I'm so happy to be at the end of this process! Second year of it for us, as DD chose pre-voc at Performers rather than a degree offer elsewhere last year. THE STRESS!! To be fair, to give hope to those in a similar position this year, it has been less stressful this time around as DD knew what she ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Unless they are also paying your rent I think you’ll find it very difficult. Where did she find her room? After being almost stung once, we need to be careful about who we contact. We found it on a Facebook group called Hustle Homes. It’s all people in the arts. It’s an existing house share. It was...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Thanks folks... And we've pretty much sorted accommodation wise. Paid deposit, just haven't had the confirmation email through because the website went down but spoke to people private halls for students and they've got it and we've had our deposit confirmed. After last night's close shave and mindf...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Unless they are also paying your rent I think you’ll find it very difficult. My daughter has just done a diploma but our earnings mean we only had to contribute about £1,000 percterm. The contact hours are nothing like a traditional degree. Pre-covid she was in college from 8.30am -6pm every day. T...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I said I'd update my news when I could. This week my daughter has received an offer for foundation at Rose Bruford and has decided to take it, over the degree offer she had for Acting at a less well known place. Fantastic news lawn! Lots of planning to do no doubt now. Exciting times 😁 Certainly, l...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Hey guys! Coming on here again after a while and seeing everyone talking about money got me thinking! I'm going to Laines in September and my parents are paying for my tuition (which I am super grateful for) but not any of my living costs, travel costs, uniform costs etc. This means I'll need to ge...

Re: Graduating Bristol Old Vic

Hi Rhymie, I remember those days and him getting in. Your words have come at a great time for us, because yesterday daughter was put in a dilemma versus a better known/lesser known drama school. So, thank you. I thinks he's close to making her choice. Good luck to your son with his graduation and th...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

With 5 weeks to go till daughter started her acting degree at drama school, today she has had an offer from a more prestigious place for foundation! Arrgghhh, not sure what we're doing yet. Oh gosh! Where has she been offered? How does your DD feel about it? Daughter has been excited since she got ...
