drama school reserve list

Has anybody got any experience of being on a reserve list for an Acting place at drama school? I don't mean for MT where the cohorts are large, and lists move a lot, but in this case for a drama school with 16 places? DS has a place at a very good school (in my opinion) but he has heard he is on the...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Well done to everyone who has received offers and waiting list places. And well done to parents holding their nerve! DS has had a couple more rejections and is still waiting to hear from his preferred option after final recall. It's very distracting for me as a parent, so goodness knows how the youn...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

@dancemum007 As someone with no skin in the game, as my DS is an actor who moves and not a dancer, my impartial advice would be this: it sounds as if Performers isn't in the greatest or nicest location, and LSC costs more (what is the reason for this?). Bird, by contrast, is very close to accommodat...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Thank you Harry, Ditzi and Helen.

Ditzi, good luck to your DD. DS didn't go for Oxford as it seemed to be a diploma and not a degree, and we need student finance - but it looked great. DS also didn't apply to LAMDA, I can't remember now why that was! Please let me know how your DD gets on.

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Good luck to everyone waiting to audition or waiting for news. Update from DS so far, for BA Acting: BOVTS : zoom done, no recall. Rose Bruford: sent tapes, no recall. Leeds Conservatoire: sent tapes, recalled but has withdrawn (see below) Guildhall: tapes sent weeks ago, still waiting for news (lon...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

So blooming happy - DD got offer of Degree at ArtsEd yesterday. Her absolute dream school. Happy doesn't begin to describe how we are all feeling. This was her third year of applying, so for those of you who may be in a similar situation to us, there is absolutely hope! This is amazing - huge congr...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

They might be still deciding, maybe email them if she doesn’t hear back soon, to make sure she didn’t get lost in the system. Did they say how long it will take to get back to her after the audition? Well done to your ds for getting to the finals, he seems to be doing really well. Dd has finally bo...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

@lizzybee DS isn't applying for MT anywhere else - he really enjoys it but his heart is with acting and he feels an actor can still do character parts in musicals, whereas a typical MT trained performer doesn't often get to do Shakespeare. That's a generalisation, I know. He's also not confident he ...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Question about CENTRAL - Can I ask if anyone on here has had news of a final recall at Central for MT? My DS went there 10 days ago and got recalled to the pm, and has since received invitations to 2 final recalls - one for Acting and one for CDT. He didn't really want the MT course and is more than...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

@LouiseDunn another offer for your DS? That's brilliant - well done to him. Is it somewhere he would choose over Bird, or just one that's nice to have? Or will it come down to finance arrangements? @K8T - I'm sorry your daughter didn't get a Leeds recall. I hope she isn't too disappointed. Hopefully...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

@louiseDunn Many congrats to your DS! That's great news. Having that first offer must change everything in terms of giving confidence for other auditions, knowing there's one in the bag already.

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Nice to see people posting again. DS finally sent off some of his applications but has a couple he still needs to do! He's another last-minute type.... So far DS has done really well; it feels wrong to go into any detail in case I jinx anything (!) but he's had some really nice news of recalls in a ...
