Re: How to keep them positive after rejections ?

I would say apply for as many as you can afford. (I personally think that some of the audition fees are ridiculous, and that is obviously where they make a lot of their money..they call it 'Admin Fees'..lol) Have you considered Bodyworks in Cambridge? or Emil Dale Academy in Hitchin? DD has just gra...

Re: How to keep them positive after rejections ?

i think you have to try to reassure your DD that it was not that she was not right for that college, but that the college was not right for her. Use that audition as a warm up/practise one and let her put it behind her. Remind her that there are hundreds that go for places at each college/uni. Try t...

Re: 16+ confused!!!

I cant recommend Bodyworks Cambridge enough..small, friendly, very hard work but a great place. DD was also a full timer at SY from yr 6 and has recently graduated from Bodyworks in July. So far she has not stopped working professionally... You will know which place is for you as soon as you step th...

Re: Cheerleading

Now I know this might be a controversial topic for some as fundamentally this is an acting dancing and singing website, the Performing Arts. However, give me a moment to explain why I believe cheerleading, which has just been recognised by the International Olympic Committee as a sport, is great an...

Re: Vocational training at 16

Hiya My dd went to SY until she was 16, then opted to do a 2 year dance / performance diploma at a local college. Then she decided to get her teaching qualifications before embarking on the 3 year level 6 diploma at Bodyworks. She is now 22 and working professionally as an MT perfomer. She felt that...

Re: Sylvia young theatre school

I think they all offer similar things xx SY is notoriously known as being hard to get into and has a fab reputation.. . But it may be a good idea to look at the others.. Barbara Speaks is another full time school...having said all that we loved SY x

Re: Sylvia young theatre school

Huge congratulations on getting a place at this very prestigious school. Hundreds of children apply each year for very few places, therefore it is hard to get into. It is a huge thing to relocate but if you are really serious about the hard work that will be involved, the long days (longer if there ...

Re: Sylvia Young new to all this

Big congratulations on the offer. My dd was a full timer from year 6 - yr 11 and was head girl in her last year there .She started as a Saturday student and really wanted to go for the full time school. We didn't think for a minute that she would get a place. (It was at the old building then, so onl...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Have any of you considered Bodyworks in Cambridge?
30 max per year, very hard work, with great results. DADAS offered and the Principals scholarship each year.
Those who wanted it got agency representation at the end of yr 3.

Re: Interesting tweet - student numbers

WOW that is a HUGE number of students. Are they streamed at all?
Bodyworks Cambridge only have around 30 in each year and are split onto the Dance and MT courses, so nice small numbers.

180 makes you wonder how much attention is given to each individual student... :?

This is very true of lots of places..worth asking the ones you are thinking of auditioning at. :D
