Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi Rhymie, thanks for the good wishes. DD did a summer course at BOV, which has confirmed it In her favourites. Can I ask you about how your DD found the audition experience? Any tips to help or things to avoid? Apart from ageing several years! :D Hi :-) My DS totally loved BOV from the minute he f...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

My DD had decided to hold off this year, but has changed her mind and is now narrowing down her previous 8 favourites into a more manageable group given that’s shes also studying for A levels As she’s only looking at straight drama Conservatoires, she knows the schools prefer candidates with a bit ...

Re: Where are our Sept 2018 starters going?

Just a couple of weeks till my DS starts at BOV. Reading list sorted, clothing sorted, accommodation sorted. All ready to go. What a journey, utter carnage for 4 years and now I'm watching so many start at the beginning, the monologues, the songs, the recalls (or not) I wouldn't wish the anguish on ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

For straight acting its all changed a bit in the last couple of years, as some are in the Conservatoire which is applied through CUCAS and some are through UCAS and some are direct. We always spread out a bit so applied from Nov - Feb when they close. most of the straight-acting courses are not conc...

Re: SFE maintenance loan

No the confirmation letter for my DS simply breaks down the amount. On the online tracker just says in process. Exactly like my DD at regulat uni last year.

Re: SFE maintenance loan

SFE pay direct to the school, you never see it. The schools normally work with SFE dates with no issues. The Maintenence loan is paid much later Im afraid. My daughter didn't get hers until early October last year.

Re: Where are our Sept 2018 starters going?

Just coming down to earth after results and excitement of booking accommodation and thought I would do a little list for this year based on the info in this thread and others who have reported places earlier in the 2018 thread. It may help others for next year to look at the full range available. A...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Rhymie, was your DS experience the same for drama school, ie, apply early? No actually this time round he went late which was risky. BOV actually have set recall days and dont make decisions about places until all those have been done in June. These are then filmed and a shortlist is created. Place...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019
Hi did your DS audition for NYT? DD tried for the first time on their very last audition days - a tutor had told her to go for it and there was only one day left. She thought it went well but didn't get in. Any tips? She will try again this year.
Hi There Yes he got into NYT when he ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi everyone, I can offer lots of info and advise on all the straight acting Drama schools if anyone needs any info on auditions, requirements, monologues and what happens in each round. MY DS auditioned for most of them before being offered a place this year at BOV, so we have been through the mill....

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

It is so difficult I agree. Unfortunately, my daughter felt worse at having been placed on the reserve list than on the shortlist. Even though you are technically nearer to getting in, the chances of anybody turning down a place at BOV are slim. I don't think she actually received a no letter, she ...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

I hope that I can offer some support for all you parents and students out there who haven’t had the news you wanted this year and maybe this is your 2nd or 3rd year of trying. It’s so hard to keep watching your child fail and then watch as they pick themselves up, dust themselves off and try and get...
