Re: Summer courses

Has anyone's DS done the Summer course at the Globe? Or does anyone recommend a summer course in theatre/acting but not musical theatre. My DS is 16. Thanks Hiya, Apologies if this has come through twice. Has your DS auditioned for NYT? if he's in it already, they do the best short courses that are...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Absolutely. She's done amazingly well to get so close so often - an amazing achievement already whatever happens. =D> =D> DS is looking at the MT quadruple threat and I'm glad to hear there are regional auditions. What was the process like? All the best of luck to your dd with her other choices, I'...

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought

That's good to know about urdang funding. That top up was always a worry when DD was auditioning. Worth noting that there can be some extra money to pay separate to the fees. At Bird it's approx £1000 We are paying this by standing order over the whole course period at about £30 per month. This is ...

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018

That’s great advice Rhymie thank you. They are all on my list! We have spoken about pure acting but he said he would miss singing too much, so the fact that there is alot of singing at BOV would be perfect. The top acting school all do singing as a core part of the BA, its part of voice training an...

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018

The entry year will be a whole lot of varying standards as the students have come from such diverse backgrounds. The talented students will always get a place somewhere, they may have to wait a year, they may have to do a foundation year, they may just get straight in with multiple offers. What mat...

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018

Hi, You are in the right place for advice with tons of great info already. But I wanted to add a bit of my own. T he MT school quality varies hugely. One of the ways you can identify which will be right for your Granddaughter is to look at who is graduating and who has been signed by an agent. (Cent...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi there, She may now be on that waiting list until the end of the audition period, which could be as late as May or June. This is because even though East 15 will finish earlier than other darma schools, some candidates with unconditional offers are still in the audition process for other schools w...

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?

Just to be devils advocate-sometimes academic study can only help in understanding texts don’t you think? An understanding of the history and politics of the time for example might benefit a student when trying to portray a particular characters emotion? I don't think it's a co-incidence that some ...

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?

Time will tell whether GSA has done the right thing with the "no writing whatsoever" course. I was quite shocked to be honest on the open day to hear this and when I tell people, they simply don't believe me. It is true though. Brand new practical only. No writing whatsoever and no more A...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi all, DD is at Central tomorrow. Any specific advice? Thanks Hi there, good luck to your DD tomorrow. My specific advice is, 1) don't wear all black, it's hard to be remembered if you look like everyone else. So maybe just a coloured top so she will stand out. 2) wear very little makeup or none a...
