Re: How many colleges should you visit the open day for?
Just a little disclaimer. Although my dh teaches in these courses he is a voice tutor not a dance teacher. He has also taught on the acting/mt courses. His current place if work now has a common first year and the students then choose dance or MT from their 2nd year onwards.

Re: How many colleges should you visit the open day for?
Let her audition see how she gets on & whether she is offered funding but apply to a local FE college on a btec course as a back up would be my gut feeling. I seem to remember you saying she isn't really interested in academic a levels. If she goers for the btec then continue with her dance less...

Re: How many colleges should you visit the open day for?
My dh has taught at some and is still teaching at one of the colleges on the list. The level 6 diploma us definitely available for dancers aged 16 plus as a 3 year course. The majority of his students are aged 16-19 when they start though some join after they have done a a levels.

Re: Matilda sheet music
Its not been published yet. A few people have attempted to transcribe it on some file sharing websites & there are some illegal copies floating around that originated from people involved with the show. It's not fully notated some of it is written in chord patterns.

Re: Musical Theatre Grade 8
I agree with pg. the teacher should be giving advice. There is a syllabus with criteria that need to be met and as I sad before LCM actually publish a list if suggested repertoire. More and more on these forums I see people asking for helP in finding exam pieces. Whilst at the higher grades students...

Re: Musical Theatre Grade 8
Which exam board is it? There are different requirements. LCM & GSA give lists of suggested rep.

Re: Very upset dd
2dancersmum your post is very reassuring as dd is not flexible. It's a real weak point and we thought it would seriously hinder her chances of getting in anywhere later. Part of the problem is she doesn't know what to do yo help as they don't really do much stretching in her ballet class just standa...

Re: Whatever happened to tap?
Definitely should be a proud emoticon
Tap is dd's weakest genre but she still enjoys it. The new ISTD syllabus is hard.

Re: Chaperoning
Part of the licensing procedure will be the Local Authority deciding whether they think you are suitable to look after a group of children. Not everyone who applies is accepted though the only people I know who have been turned down was for health reasons. You should have an interview and will have ...

There is a James & Giant Peach monologue in the Jean Marlow audition speeches for kids book. However it might be a bit over used.

Jason Robert Brian obviously disagrees. I know whose word I would trust.
