Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

It looks like if it is universal credit they have indeed made it impossible to claim for housing by the "parental support" clause. This seems outrageous if some areas allow the old rule from last year and some do not if UC has been rolled out.

SFE maintenance loan

Does anyone know when they get the first payment of the maintenance loan from SFE? Just thinking the Bird course might start earlier than a lot of uni courses and wondered if DD will get it in September or have to wait? Payment date for the fees is Oct 17th.

Re: Dance clothes for training - quantity?

Does anyone know if dd needs a smart black dress for Hammond? I can see they all seem smart for the choir and Lucy's hoping to be part of that x I think a smart black dress is a good idea. It will probably come in useful at some point. Choirs & orchestras often choose that for concerts. I've al...

Re: Leaving home essentials !

Agree with sorting out the medical side. DD didn't change doctor as it was only a year foundation but in hindsight we should have. She ended up having to go to out of hours at the hospital for a throat infection and get anti-biotics. If you get groceries home delivered you can add your DCs student a...

Re: Where are our Sept 2018 starters going?

Thought it might help that by this stage of the summer a good percentage of bird foundation students that finished and auditioned have had an offer to return there. Some heard immediately or within a week or two and some have had to wait longer. Obviously some have chosen other destinations too. Hop...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi everyone, I can offer lots of info and advise on all the straight acting Drama schools if anyone needs any info on auditions, requirements, monologues and what happens in each round. MY DS auditioned for most of them before being offered a place this year at BOV, so we have been through the mill...

Re: Where are our Sept 2018 starters going?

DD did the foundation at Bird last year and is starting the degree in September. She is really pleased she did the foundation so it feels like money well spent thankfully.
Nice to see the destinations.

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Good Luck to all the 2019 hopefuls from me too. I agree this site is really great for finding out some of the info that isn't easily available on the various college websites. My tips would be get thoroughly prepared with all songs, monologues etc and if ready go for early auditions before Xmas - yo...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

You will need all her accommodation details before applying. You will need to provide documents which if you are posting then always send special delivery/ tracked. Email them to provide a dated paper trail. It is the council for where they will be living. If you have to go to drop her off then you ...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Foundation students can apply for a room in halls too so in theory the 3 could all get a room each in halls. Just call and say they want to be in the same flat.

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Hi yes. Look on the university of Greenwich website. It wouldn't be suitable for under 18 though. For over 18 you can just choose and apply online. You can pay in installments I think. With renting a place it's the horrendous fees and advance rent that can really add up.

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

In DD's hall flat there were foundation and first year students. There were a few flats with bird college students so plenty of people to meet. The flats have a shared kitchen diner. The individual rooms have a fridge so you can have a kettle and make a drink in your room too if you want some space....
