Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

For anybody starting at Bird this September-Ds in final year and has lived with the most incredible host family for the whole 3 years. He was only 16 when he started and they have cared for him so well. Really great location too. PM if you would like details. Ds will be sad to leave them That's nic...

Re: RCS

Happy New Year! It has an excellent reputation and I wanted DD to apply but she really wanted a London college. If your DS plays an instrument well it could be a good option. No harm in applying if you are happy to do the travelling involved. The website looked useful when we were looking last year....

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Also no cuts or recalls and offer comes later by post I think - as munchpot said they get considered for all the options at same time.

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi all. My DD has just received her audition date for Bird. Just wondering if anyone has any tips for the day? It states she only has to prepare one monologue and one song which she was a little surprised about. She was expecting to have to perform her own dance and contrasting songs etc. Has this ...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

Fingers crossed for you :) Hi Sailorgirluae - did you have any luck yet? Also, does anyone know if the HB stops when the course finishes or when the lease finishes? Thanks Well after an epic battle with Gulidford council we finally got his housing benefit approved on appeal :D. Was a little stressf...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

It's up to your friend and her DD to make the decision. You can suggest she look on here - there is plenty to browse through but in the end it's up to them. It's not something to go into half heartedly and to be honest it's probably not worth trying to compromise and do a uni course that isn't the ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Meant to add. If your DD's friend is serious that she wants to do MT then she could read through previous threads to get to know more and seek advice from her dance teacher and school. I would assume she was having dance lessons and was already involved in youth theatre or singing/ choir so it would...

Re: When to apply?

Not sure where your DD is on her foundation but honestly I wouldn't fret about this. The foundation is for preparing them to audition again for the next step. They will be working towards this. Your DD will just need to update her personal statement - about her foundation experience, living away etc...

Re: When to apply?

Bird foundation students were expected to apply later so she might have to ask her college about applications as they have to give a reference on the UCAS application and might have a schedule for doing that.

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

General health maintenance is so important especially in that first year. Vitamins, vocal steamer, wash hands and bring a mini hand sanitizer to occasionally use. Get thinking about every way about keeping healthy mentally and physically during training. Getting enough sleep and taking time out to r...

Send all correspondence for Hb special delivery. It costs more but nothing can go astray.

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

Can they work and claim? Is there a limit on how much they can earn? Finally if they come every weekend can they claim? I don't think you need to say what they do at weekends. The rent covers all week I assume or all month if it's monthly rent. As for work. Yes there is a limit. Off the top of my h...
