Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry
Ellie's mum - I don't know if it's too late to add any more in, but I would have also suggested she try Trinity Laban. We went on an open day there in December 19, and I thought it a lovely place. There were students there who were more actor/singers. One ex student who is also more of a singer/acto...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry
Has anyone else got a more actor singer applying? She got rejected from Urdang (not sad just not there to make up the numbers), rejected from Mountview (unsurprising she looks very young despite being 18 she still meets casting criteria for school of rock). She has a callback at Conti at the end of...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry
Dada funding I'm guessing? My understand is as follows (prepared to be corrected if I get it wrong). The places eligible to be given Dada funding receive a big 'pot' of money this has to support their current students who are on Dadas as well as the newcomers. The ones that are offered a place then ...

Re: Performing arts 6th form colleges
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of Kingsclere Performing Arts college? Not one I've heard of before. Is it MT she's interested in? If so, is dance her strength or what she wants to focus on more? This makes it clear that the majority of time will be devoted to dance. Is that what she w...

Re: Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD)
DD had a recall for the degree at Royal Welsh last year - she liked the whole process and got very positive feedback. She wasn't offered a place - they were very complimentary but said the course wasn't right for her. But her friend was. Friend had a lot of professional experience in acting and a g...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry
Hi all, My dd is trying to finish her ucas application and she is trying to put in her dance exams. Does anyone know for ISTD vocational whether it is National Tap or Stage Branch tap as she has to pick one of these! Any ideas, her certificate just says Tap Dance! Thanks all :) I see someone has re...

Re: Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD)
Dd applied last year for postgrad Musical Theatre and had a recall. She didn’t get in but I think ultimately it wouldn’t have suited her. The recall was online and was quite tricky in her halls room. There was a LOT of improvisation, in fact the whole recall was improv from having to improv a dance...

Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD)
Has anyone had a child train here or even just apply to Royal Welsh? It's been suggested to daughter that's one of the places she applies to. (this would be for acting) but she can't find much info about it beyond their own website. After last year of self tapes, her taking a last minute foundation ...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry
My daughter but for an acting course 6th form got asked. What do you feel went well? What do you think could have been improved on? Why did you choose these pieces? What is your strength? What is your biggest weakness? The last question she failed spectacularly on, didn't get a place at her dream 6t...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Pleased she's enjoying it islandofsodor. I agree that some dance places don't give enough emphasise on the singing and acting side of things even if their course is called MT. Last year daughter rand friend auditioned somewhere that's often spoken on here positively. It turned out to be the only in...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry
For sixth form my DD attended a state FE college on an MT course. It was selective in that you had to audition to get a place, not just meet the academic criteria but the majority of students came from the college's catchment area (which was admittedly large, county wide rather than town/city wide)....

Re: Fully funded places at award winning college
I'm guessing since it's October tomorrow that they found enough people to train? As someone who lives too far from drama schools that means communing is not an option, I do think offers like these would have to be targeted to the right areas as people who can't usually afford to train, would also ne...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry
I am so relieved to see a return to face to face auditions - how else do people know how to choose a college? So important to get a true feel of a place. Fingers crossed others are also goi g to go back to proper auditions. Think that will depend on the college. Daughter is on a foundation (straigh...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry
Hi all, jumping on post as my DD will be starting her auditions soon for next year's intake.......scary! I just wanted to ask do most people go to the open days? We are in Cornwall so to go to each of the schools she's interested in just for a morning or afternoon will be a bit of a nightmare, shou...
