Re: 3rd year support

My daughter has just graduated from The Hammond. Sadly this whole year and a half has been a disaster and my daughter has been heartbroken how her training has gone. Not been in one musical show, no agent panel, had an online showcase. final show cancelled. They just had a short showcase at the sch...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Big thank you to those who mentioned applying for student finance now. I'm sure DD didn't realise the dealine. We've submitted details but were surprised that it's the 2019/20 finance information they required. I had assumed it would be 2020/21. So we had to find different paperwork. Is this normal...

Re: 3rd year support

I asked my DD this, as really they should be. GSA have had 3 shows - Titanic, Secret Garden and The Wild Party which have been streamed for free. Two /three showings of each. They are also doing Twelfth Night but this is an outdoor paid performance and I think they had something else? There is also a...

Re: What size is First Year Diploma/Degree for the various colleges?

GSA takes around 40, usually equal amount of M/F.
I do think that any establishments that can, will take more in future though.

Re: When do you stop supporting dreams?

Thanks all, great replies and agree with you all. Just having a mum wobble moment. Sorry to hear that, unfortunately that goes on for years. Each stage is a different experience with it's moments of happiness and sadness. I hope you get to experience more happiness than sadness, we have all been th...

Re: Dada funding for 2021/2022

I have just read through the consultation and it is worrying. Interesting points about London weighting and the boom in 18 yo between 2020 - 2030, also that mental health funding will be increased. Hasn't anyone given thought that many don't want to be a nurse, dentist or midwife? Should we be expec...

Re: 16 -18/19 training Performing arts/ drama

Another vote for MXM, my DD loved it and went there for 2 years, a high level of commitment is needed and there are lots of opportunities to perform.
She is still in touch with lots of the students, a great place to do extra training.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I think like face to face auditions, don't worry too much. Of course, easy for me to say but remember many drama schools went through this last year and most on my DD's course at GSA did online auditions. She received an offer last February and has since found out that she was the second girl accept...

Re: 16 -18/19 training Performing arts/ drama

It may be worth researching what's on offer very carefully, BTEC's are due to be replaced with 'T' levels and there isn't provision for Performing Arts at the moment, not sure if that will change. You may well find that colleges will be offering their own 6th form diplomas/provision in future. Emil...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Sadly Betty Laine called a zoom meeting for the whole college today and basically told them all to go and retrain - talk about a kick in the teeth! My daughter is a third year and hasnt seen inside the college properly since last march. How can she get a proper diploma in musical theatre via zoom? ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I do know quite a lot of people who auditioned as a back-up or just to see what it was like. Shame that it’s seen as a back up! But not in London so can see why. I know some who chose ArtsEd , MV and Hammond as back ups, let's face it , if you are auditioning at 5 /6/7 drama schools they are all ba...

Re: College teaching from next term ?

Mine is due back at GSA on the MT degree on the 4th Jan. She has had majority of lessons in the studios face to face and some online. She has to have another Covid test before starting back though. Those doing practical degrees are to go back sooner I believe, my son isn't back until 7th February al...

Hi
Mine did own choice contemporary for first round then Legit from a list at recall for GSA.
Can't remember what was on it, neither can she and haven't got the list any.
Not sure if it will change this year though, who knows?
She had audition on 19th Dec and got recall email on 21st Dec.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Thanks lotsolaffs. We know Urdang for example you just apply and see what happens and some ask for your preference (which for us depends on funding as well as the nature of the course) Some have different audition days for BA Hons v diploma but for most it's online with lots of uploading of exercis...
