interesting one, and strange the there's no one obvious answer - except...like other posts, I've always understood:
castings = modelling/photographic/video/commercial
auditions= acting where there's scripts/lines to learn/group workshop auditions for tv/film/stage roles

Re: Should we give up?
I agree with pg - cupcakephoebz - having 'fencing' in the skills section of your c.v. is fantastic - really makes you stand out having something different like that, as it's not a sport everyone has. It's also good to try and get some student films under your belt, if you call the Unis and get a con...

Re: Should we give up?
I'd imagine that the c.v that's sent with a photo is the issue - not enough experience, and a 'look' that they already have on their books and can't take any more - it's one thing getting turned down or not hearing anything from sending a c.v. and p hoto to an agent, and another going for an auditio...

Re: MINISTER SAYS:DON'T TELL YOUR DAUGHTERS THEY'RE BEAUTIFU
the minister is not a parent, and this is pretty evident - the example she gives is praising for doing a jigsaw puzzle ! hmm True that body image is an issue for both girls and boys - looking at airbrushed size zero models and heavily oil muscling male models flexing is not what our children should ...

Re: Should we give up?
i think get as much experience as possible via amateur theatre groups, audition for NYT for example too - don't know how old your dd is, but as pg said it could just be age and type, and your dd looking too much like other people on an agents books already. Even students fresh out of drama schools d...

Re: BRITAINS GOT TALENT 2013
:lol: :lol: the guy dancing with a broom was just ridiculous..and they didn't even make it remotely interesting by giving him backing dancers plus brooms too, it was just stupid ! And the two guys dressed up as women with moustaches on swings....er....er....'what on earth?' - waste of a place :roll:...

Re: MINISTER SAYS:DON'T TELL YOUR DAUGHTERS THEY'RE BEAUTIFU
to suggest that it's common place (which is why I'm assuming she commented in the first place) that parents just concentrate soley on praising dds on their looks alone, and that alone, is presumptious, rather insulting and as you say pg, her point gets lost a bit, because its rather more about the i...

MINISTER SAYS:DON'T TELL YOUR DAUGHTERS THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/10083124/Dont-tell-your-daughter-she-is-beautiful-parents-told.html couldn't believe I was reading such nonsense in the Telegraph - I will continue to tell my daughter on occasion that she's beautiful, that she's good at things, praise written work too, praise her in...

Re: What would you pay?
I agree... but what if you were told your DH could be selected to get a good west end gig if you paid £1088 ? On the hush, though... Would you pay it? I wonder how often this actually does go on ? that's a lot of money, and if he wasn't put through on exceptional talent, and got a role over others ...

Re: What would you pay?
seriously though, I thought one of the reasons for doing a degree was for the sense of achievement, and knowing you will have the academic ability to cope with a job in your chosen field on leaving university - how does getting someone else to do the essays give you that? I would be appauled if /i ...

Re: Audition confusion......
hmm - i wouldn't just 'turn up' unless you have confirmation for an actual audition slot - they have a timetable and it could result in disappointment and a wasted journey - hopefully you'll hear some good news over the forthcoming hours/days, which would be better scenario.

BRITAINS GOT TALENT 2013
watched this programme last night #-o , couldn't believe some of the daft acts - but I think the large group of children, the dance troupe should have been put through,they were fantastic and took going out so well, and out the two acts I was looking forward to watching them again in the final - the...

Re: Audition confusion......
perhaps you'll still receive a response to your email - but in the meantime, perhaps forward the same email to them writing that you can now attend - but better still, any chance you could get a phone number and give them a call to clarify everything. They will have received the email with the cance...

Re: Arts Ed London Sixth form
very sensible decision rebeccaM, sounds like it was right choice for your dd. though Arts Ed students do have a very good employment rate on leaving - they always seem to get work, which is good news for those considering. But I do know students who have left ArtsEd to do bog standard A Levels at sc...
