Re: PA secondary schools - academics
Thank you all so much - really, really helpful. I'm looking at all the options out there, but DD is very keen to not board at the moment which will rule out Hammond, Red Roofs and Tring. I boarded as a child and enjoyed it so I'm more than happy to consider it should she change her mind, or if one o...

PA secondary schools - academics
We're looking at places like SYTS and Arts Ed for DD for secondary. DD has dyslexia - she's 98th centile for VR and Non-VR but only 7th centile for working memory. Diagnosis is 'mild dyslexia', but she struggles hugely with spelling and reading isn't her favourite thing in the world. She goes to a v...

Re: Sylvia Young or Mark Jermin??
Interested to see what people say... I terminated DD's contract with her last agent a couple of months ago and have been taking some time to look for other options - SY is one that I am seriously considering (we are considering SYTS for secondary, so that plays into the considerations). How old is y...

Re: Fidgeting!
Thank you all so much for the ideas and comments. Hopefully it's something she'll grow out of or at least manage to not do it when it counts. She came home with some things from school that are designed to stop fiddling so I imagine she does it all the time there too... poor teachers. I've shown her...

Re: Fidgeting!
Thank you for that info - v useful and good to know that Jo Hawes is sympathetic to the whole nerves thing, as it may just come across as that! If it was definitely nerves for DD it might be easier to solve, but I think it's more that she is one of these kids that have to be touching something or fi...

Fidgeting!
Does anyone have any methods for curing children of fidgeting (playing with hair, scratching nose, can't decide where to put their hands etc) or swaying while they sing. Last audition I tied DD's hair in a pony-tail and gave her an inch or so of ribbon to hold to stop her from doing it - and she sai...

RBS Associates
Anybody else's DD/DS having a bash at these this year? Or for the YDA associates?
DD is down for the London RBS Y4 JAs so some time end of May/beginning of June I imagine. The odds look horrendous, but all good experience!

Can you put it in the 'Currently appearing' thing for now and then put it into 2017 once it's showing?

Re: Film - Mary poppins 2
The crew are coming round to my office in London next week for two days to film... we are all bizarrely excited about it. Does anyone know when it's likely to be released?

Re: Theatre school auditions
Huge congratulations to your DD - she must be super excited. Good luck with the move as well! I'm starting to look at options for my DD - currently in Y3 - and was wondering if you could give any advice on Y6 applications. How far in advance did you start looking round, what was required in terms of...

Re: Full-time PA Secondary Advice needed - SYTS etc
Thank you both for the advice. I'd say that voice is definitely where DD stands out, with dancing she has potential and I really haven't a clue about the acting - I've seen the odd child of her age where they have particularly good comic timing, or particularly good speaking voice/projection etc, bu...

Full-time PA Secondary Advice needed - SYTS etc
Hello All - first post here, but have been avidly reading and learnt so much from all your posts, but have a few questions I can't find answers to. I have a DD who turns 8 next Spring and we are thinking about letting her apply for vocational school for secondary. Quite early to be thinking probably...
