Re: New members - please check your messages

Hi as Francescasmum says above, welcome messages no longer go out automatically. We just do it ourselves when you tell us you are new. So welcome from me, and do spend some time looking through the threads at questions that have already been asked, and then ask away - there are lots of very kind and...

Re: Seeds of doubt now

Dodgersmum, I'm so glad things are working out well and I'm sorry that you had such a horrible text just when you should have been enjoying the moment. People are weird, and it is so unpredictable who will celebrate with you and who will want to snipe. It gets me every time, and it makes me want to ...

Re: Dd in spotlight- where else can I find her auditions?

I think it depends on the Agent and your relationship with them. Our current one is happy for us to apply directly through StarNow or Mandy for stuff to keep the CV current as we are outside London and so only get put forward for bigger stuff. We apply for local jobs on Mandy and StarNow where the p...

Well done for the recall though!

Re: Juggling school and working - when does something have to give?

It's from the head, who clearly thought it was a nice little novelty hobby at first, and now thinks it's becoming a bit ridiculous (which obviously it is, but when did that ever stop anyone...?! :? ) It's the fact that having those direct conversations is now becoming awkward that is making me re-ev...

Juggling school and working - when does something have to give?

Over the last few years DS has been working on and off - he started in Y2, and is now in Y5. Gradually he has had more opportunities - mostly local professional, with some theatre touring, and we have juggled maintaining high school attendance and attainment. This school year he has just completed a...

Re: Self Tape Success Stories

We've never had anything from a self tape either. Tempted to give up on them, but we live a long way from London and it seems increasingly the way things are going. Had some feedback from one agent which was helpful and I think they are better now than they were, but obviously not good enough. Our ...

Re: EKA Agency

Anyone got any up to date info on EKA. If so it would be much appreciated. I have read the old threads and have some concerns. We are represented elsewhere but have received a proposal which may or may not be interesting and I am just sense checking what my instincts are telling me. Positive stories...

Re: Casing amounts

Yes, I agree it's feast or famine, but I would say what you have had so far suggests that your dd is being put forward for things pretty regularly so that's good. You can always ask them what she has been put forward for if you are worried, but on the basis of what you say I wouldn't be too concerne...

Re: Just looking for some reassurance/advice

We went for a look round at a vocational performing arts school as one of the possible options for DS3 at Y7, and I was really struck by the lovely kids who showed us round who said 'I am applying to XYZ colleges for Musical Theatre and also to ABC universities for Biomedical Sciences (or whatever),...

Re: Just looking for some reassurance/advice

Hi Yes I agree with Freda. Congratulations to your DD on YMT - that is a really high standard and so clearly she has something to offer. I definitely wouldn't worry about the school shows thing. My DS was in two professional stage shows last year and was cast as 19th Roman from the Left behind a tre...

Re: Chaperone Qualifications

Yes councils vary hugely in what they offer training wise. Ours offers very little, although you have to pass a sort of exam thing to show you have read and understood the requirements. I was chaperoning at an event in Birmingham earlier this year and the councils around there seemed to have signifi...
