Re: foundation course housing benefit
I think on a Foundation Course you are entitled to Child Benefit still as long as the child is living at home for a number of weeks of the year. Not sure if Housing Benefit could also be claimed but I guess that is the child claiming HB and not the parent. We have just cancelled receiving our child ...

Re: What to do with academic Dd?!
Same position here-DD predicted to get 8's and 9's in GCSE's but her dream is to dance and perform so as she has offers she is going at 16. If it doesn't work out in the future she can do further qualifications but as you only live once we are letting her follow her dream. I am in fact very excited ...

Re: Training at 16 or 18 ?
If it is an offer with a DaDa I would go for it. My DD is going at 16. It's all she wants to do and yet she would probably get good A Level grades as her GCSE predictions are all high. I can't say no to an opportunity that may not come along again as in 2 years time she may not get any offers. If yo...

Re: Dance GCSE choice for PA career.
I don't think it will have any importance/relevance for future PA Colleges. My DD did PE GCSE and could have Dance as the sport. She has to do lesson plans, coaching and performance. At the end of the day though it is down to the audtion day that will get you in or out. Personally I think if your ch...

No, my DD went for it twice, got offered a part scholarship twice but we couldn't afford additional fees so didn't take the offer.x

Re: foundation course housing benefit
Thanks for replies. I'll check again closer to the time of her starting as a Foundation Course isn't classed as Higher Education apparently. They give it to you in one hand and take it with the other anyway!!

Re: foundation course housing benefit
Hi Will your DC be 18? If so it goes on their income not yours. If they are 16 (which I guess they must be if you would still be getting CB) I am not 100% sure whether they then ask about your household income. You do have to say how the student will support themselves for the foundation eg savings...

Re: foundation course housing benefit
Hi all. If lucky and get Housing Benefit when on a Foundation Course, can we parents still also get Child Benefit to continue. We are only just within bracket to receive it, but not sure if we'd still get CB or not - maybe someone out that can let me know if they continued to get. Thanks

Re: Independent Castings Query
Hi. I would tell my DD's agency just out of courtesy. Some may say that although sourced yourself, you'll have to still pay a small percentage of commission to them. You'll have to sort the licence yourself and get something from the production team to show to the school. Licences are easy to get, p...

Re: Comparing exam scores acrosss boards
Wouldn't call her a friend - you should point out that her DD only had to get 79 to get a distinction with RAD where as your DD had to get at least 85 with IDTA to gain a distinction, which means it is harder!! As they go through the IDTA grades I think, but may be wrong, that the distinction grade ...

Re: Performing children and SATs
I am out of that stage now but at the time the headteacher said NO TIME off when SATS are on. If a child is off sick on a day of a test then it is usually done when they are back in school, but we are talking about the next day or so and first thing in the morning so that they haven't spoken to any ...
Re: Wilkes
I don't know anyone there but the performances at Move It are outstanding, like many colleges. My only concern would be that they only offer a Level 3 BTEC and over 3 years, something you could do elsewhere for free in 2 years. Just a thought.
