Re: BA / Foundation MT courses Sept 18
Yes we were seeing the Arts Ed Foundation as an investment in further training but it’s a lot of money and then she has to go through the auditioning process all over again of course. I had heard good things about the triple threat course at Chichester as they have a London showcase and tour opport...

Re: Understanding the Funding Options for 18+
Forgot to add that PCDLs are only available from the Coop Bank. Barclays used to do them as well. But they were identical Ts and Cs.

Re: Understanding the Funding Options for 18+
My understanding is that some degree courses can't access full loans because the colleges are deemed to be "private" or something like that. I don't know about acting but some MT courses have access to PCDLs - professional career development loans. These are commercial loans up to £10,000 ...

Re: BA / Foundation MT courses Sept 18
DS went to Arts Ed for the MT BA and said that although the Foundation course is a good course, it is not a stepping stone to the BA course. If you can afford it then perhaps it is worth doing before reapplying for the BA courses next year as she will be training and keeping on top of things. Many ...

Re: Monologues for audition for diploma MT
My daughter needs a monologue for an upcoming audition but it doesn't state whether it should be contemporary or classical , just not longer than one minute . It is difficult to know what to choose .... I've been told or heard somewhere it should be age appropriate and preferably not with an accent...

Re: Mental health in performing arts
Please don’t feel bad IbM, it’s clear to me why you posted and I’m not sure the response needed to be quite so harsh, making you feel awful for no good reason. It’s something we all need to be acutely aware of around young people, not just in performing arts. A young man committed suicide just afte...

Re: Mental health in performing arts
I have deleted my original post which has seemingly offended along with another which I subsequently made. I'd like to simply point out that I "got the name wrong!" simply because I had assumed the gofundmepage was in the daughter's name and not her mothers. I apologise unreservedly for th...

Re: Wilkes Academy
Don't have specifics I'm afraid but DD has a friend there in her second year, not a close friend, but she does keep in touch with her and she seems to be happy with it. Her friend went there very much as a dancer and not as an MT performer as she had never sung in public or had singing lessons or be...

Best wishes for 2018
Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and successful 2018. For those parents and DCs who are in the process of auditioning and are not getting offers please keep your heads up and keep trying. This time two years ago we had 4 rejections and 3 auditions to come in Jan/Feb but it all worked out despite ha...

Re: Dance question
If his main interest is drama, and he wants to be an actor who sings. Then I don’t believe he needs to dance at any serious level. Being able to move well, follow direction is important and some basic dance ability might be helpful there. Even the Globe cast dance a jig at the end of each show and ...

Re: mountview advice needed
The dance level question is a tricky one. DD auditioned there for Sep-16 entry and agonised over it. In the end it was a disaster and out of her control. She decided to go for advanced but there were so many that day who said they were advanced that they asked who had what grade in ballet and split...
