Re: foundation course housing benefit

we are still getting grief from East Herts...they have suspended DS payments until he provides further proof that he is living where he says her is,despite rental agreement and letter from college. Now they want another letter from the Landlady (tick) another letter from college(tick) DS has made th...

Re: Agency fees

Hi :) we are relatively new too but we were always told to avoid fees. From my understanding they make their money from the commission on jobs their clients get so if they do their job then they shouldn’t need to charge extra. The exception to the rule would be spotlight fees as they are separate t...

Re: Leave home at 15?

Personally at that age I would encourage my child to go o a local college to do combination of btec in performing and A levels whilst keeping with piano and dancing outside of college. I'm pretty sure b techs are free for under 19 year old anyway. It's a lot to deal with at 15. If they are talented...

Re: Leave home at 15?

Why does he have to dump his agent ?
My DS kept his agent when he moved out and started at Emil Dale
Also he’ll be moving on for different experiences,
They all have to eventually.

Re: Vocational training at 16

JMO My DS wouldn't have wanted to move out and do a straight diploma at 16, although he was probably more than capable. Some of that would have been to do with the social side of things, he is quite mature and at 6'2" is capable of passing for older, but he isnt old enough to drink and go to cl...

Re: Sylvia young theatre school

Hi there Just out of interest, did you look at any other specialist performing schools like Tring, Red Roofs or Arts Ed? If you were definitely set on coming over maybe casting the net wider? He sounds like a talented chap so there might be more to choose from? ( I wasn't sure how old he was ) BTW I...

Re: Sylvia young theatre school

What an adventure! Of course if it's what you all want then brilliant but what a huge decision based on one school. Scholarships are hard to get at SY but a paying place is more easily achievable. Of course the kids have to have some talent and drive to be offered a place but it's not out of most pe...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Has anyone any info on host family costs for DC ' S at Emil Dale please? Thank you I would guess at between £350 - £450 a month dependent on what they offer and T and C's My DS pays upper end of the £300's but I know some who pay slightly less and some a little more. If they are doing the BTech the...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

I do agree It's a tough one and we are lucky for him to be accepted and be able to scrape the money together. I guess that I'm saying is - use the two years as best you can , be that finding somewhere locally that offers top level training , or a good BTECH ( there are some dire ones out there ) on ...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Thank you all,it does make so much more sense to not pay out now, I have just spent so long looking and researching and have learnt so much that it will come in handy later on,I think it has come to a case of facing up to reality about colleges and glad that we aren't applying to as many as we star...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

I am over the moon with our choice to send DS off to Emil Dale Academy. He took AS levels and was always intending to follow the A level route but was so unhappy not doing full time PA it was decided to move him. There are many BTechs of varying standards, some great ,some not so great,we did a lot ...

Re: Clueless! What classes to do?

My only advice would be this.. If you are unhappy with the dance school and the way it is run ...get out and quick! She is 4 and most 4 year olds love their teachers, but they can love another one just as quickly. You are paying for this, and this type of toxic environment can quickly escalate and c...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

My DS has performed from a young age but was always adamant as were we, that he should take A Levels, he has a good level of academic ability. He had a great standard of vocational training in dance, singing and acting outside of school and reached a high level of attainment, still certain of the A ...
