Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
In Jan last year there were about 8 students doing the Laine top up degree (at least there were 8 in the session and they implied that was the whole group). The cost was £4500 - half price - which they were hoping to keep the same. The students all said they were enjoying the academic element and th...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
That's interesting about Laine. We hadn't heard of different letters going out - only the scholarship phone calls. Maybe everyone has to wait for those people to accept their DADA place (and submit their completed forms) before Laine can compile their talent (reserve) list. I'm not sure why Laine di...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
At the Open Day (pre Covid) Laine said they usually offer around 200 places and expect an intake of around 80 for the diploma. Miss Wilson said they can never predict the exact number as many young people get multiple offers - it's varied from 62 to 92 approx in recent years (current students will o...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Second round of Laine offers only came out today so it may be a week before those DADA forms are all returned and the Talent Register compiled. I'm not sure if they put all 200 offers into the list or just those needing funding or whether they give DADA offers and put the rest in order of audition s...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Great set of offers evie03. Might depend on whether dance or MT is the goal. Plus degree or diploma. Laine top up degree is not eligible for student finance so is an additional cost. Where are you at the moment and what do your teachers advise? They should know the colleges and be able to advise you...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Islandofsodor - is that for the extra MA year? DD has her Royal Welsh recall next week for their new BA Hons course and wants to see it through before making her final decision (although I honestly can't see her turning down ArtsEd) Facilities at Royal Welsh look great!

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Gosh that is late for Bird and a long wait to hear from ArtsEd. They have so many tapes to sift through so they're probably just busy working their way through them but I think if it's more than six weeks it might be worth emailing them incase something has gone awry. Hope you hear soon.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
That's lovely news about Laine offer! Congratulations to your DD. The Easter Bunny did well there!
Does that mean that the results of this week's auditions are out? Just wondering how long the information about DADA funding will be...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
That's wonderful news icantdance. Well done to your DS. =D> Fantastic to have a choice - but not easy as so much to consider. Both degrees are very new unlike their diplomas. Can you get to visit? Do you know students on both? Will Conti moving to Woking make a difference? Guess it's down to gut fee...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
On the Urdang audition support day they gave current numbers: 108 on degree, 26 on Diploma, 15 on Foundation and 30 on AVT. They said 2,000 apply across their courses. We had thought there were more. But they didn't say how many started on these courses or how many they would take this year but said ...

Yes - good luck to your DD with her Conti recall Startinglate. Can't help with that one but hope she does well whether on Zoom or in person

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
I agree that the taping has taken hours and hours - much longer than preparing for a face to face audition but obviously saving on possible over night stays and days off school/college. Colleges are juggling face to face, Zoom and taped auditions and recalls/interviews so I know it can't be easy but...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Just adding to the previous ArtsEd recall advice - DD had to sing her first song in full (not just the one minute version) and a short section from her second song. Some people are asked to sing certain exercises and others work on one of the songs a bit more. DD did both monologues and just worked ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Thank goodness Laine acted. We did find it rather odd that Laine interviewed BEFORE watching the tapes. Seemed the wrong order. They couldn't refer to the audition material. Hope Moonfaery you get an offer soon.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Laine have another round of auditions next week. They may well have a large reserve list and are waiting on the current applicants before they make decisions. We noticed that there was no "acceptance form" along with DD's offer - just the DADA declaration form. So we also think that they d...
