Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I was also thinking of giving our contribution weekly to start with to help DD budget. I think things will also depend on their flatmates and whether they can share shopping and cooking etc. DD has a job offer for Saturdays but I really wonder if it'll be too much in the first term. And the issue of...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Thank you for the student loan info. That has helped knowing we will need to find September rent too before the loan comes through.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Gosh - £500 seems a lot. Then I started calculating. DD's maintenance loan will leave her with £20 a week after rent and bills. We were thinking of paying for her phone and giving her £200 a month. So basically she'd have about £280/£300 a month. She can walk to her London college from her flat so a...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Can't believe we're practically at the end of our audition journey (with DD off to ArtsEd in a couple of months) and you are all about to start yours already! Be prepared for a bumpy but exciting ride! There is really no easy answer to the best time to audition and this year will be very different f...

Re: 3rd year support

I wish all the graduates every possible success.I also remember, Marissa, your daughter's journey and the resilience she showed before getting onto her course. Was that really three years ago! Our DD is at EDA 6th form. They currently have all the second years off due to one case in each bubble and ...

Re: Urdang AVT 2021

DD tells me this course is closing - and a friend said the same. Anyone know why? I thought it was considered a decent option as an alternative to 6th form. Curious.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I think you should try and contact Laine (although that does appear difficult) as everyone we know who applied (and that's quite a lot) have all heard. Some got DADAs or scholarships, some on reserve for a DADA are waiting to see if they move up the list but they know their position. Those higher up...

Re: Dance schools in Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire

Dancelifemum: We were only looking for tap and modern so DD has never done ballet at GSD (although invited to). She kept with GPSD. Good luck and have fun looking around! (And yes the C is for Cassie!) :D

Re: Dance schools in Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire

There are very exciting happenings with Georgina Pay School of Dance - opening new studios in Ware and offering all dance genres from September. Look at CMG Arts Ltd on Facebook. I've a feeling this will become a firm favourite! Ballet provision remains excellent. DD is still with Graham School of D...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

DD had an unexpected call from Laine yesterday offering her a means-tested funded place. She has already accepted elsewhere which we think suits her better. We know others have been told their places on the Reserve List now so I would like to think that everyone knows one way or the other. Laine hav...

Re: Royal Welsh - Musical Theatre

Can't help with Royal Welsh insider info but DD was recalled for this and later had an interview. Although they were very complimetary she didn't feel she was totally suited to their course (she is very much a dancer as well as a singer/actress). A friend however - who is a super actress/singer and ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Big thank you to those who mentioned applying for student finance now. I'm sure DD didn't realise the dealine. We've submitted details but were surprised that it's the 2019/20 finance information they required. I had assumed it would be 2020/21. So we had to find different paperwork. Is this normal ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

DD's friend has just had a no from her Urdang recall. A bit disappointed after a long wait but off to Performers which I'm sure she'll love. Hopefully others still waiting will get good news and those still waiting on Laine DADA results and reserve places receive good news soon too.
