New to this
Hi, my DD is 15 and has wanted me to look into signing her up to an agency for a long time, however, I know nothing about it so have put it off. I know she’s not at the right age for musical theatre but maybe odd acting work and modelling would be something that she’s like to do. Where do I start an...

For those DC that are doing the AVT course, did they do any summer courses, etc at Urdang beforehand?

Re: To do A levels or not
Thanks for the replies. My DD is worried about what she would do if it didn’t work out performing wise with no A levels, but recognises that a performing arts 6th form would give her a good boost. How do people survive generally in the performing arts industry, ie inbetween jobs and what happens if ...

To do A levels or not
My DD is in Year 10 and we’ve started having discussions about whether my DD does A levels or not. I know we have some time to decide but at the moment we’re all thinking that she tries for a performing arts 6th form college for musical theatre. This is because she really wants to move away from aca...

Re: Lesser known performing art 6th forms
Thanks for all your responses - lots to consider. My DD is happy to move away from home (though not sure if the reality of that will change her mind eventually) what is the accommodation situation for 16 year olds doing a BTEC? I know it probably differs between colleges but what would we be looking...

Re: Lesser known performing art 6th forms
Thanks very much Crazytime, we’ll add them to the list to look at! I’ve seen other posts talk about 6th form courses on here but only the main colleges are often mentioned, which I know are very competitive. So I was wondering what other colleges are out there, just to expand our options. It’s so ha...

Lesser known performing art 6th forms
I just wondered if anyone knew of any lesser known 6th form colleges that offer musical theatre courses equivalent to A levels? We know about the well known ones like Emil Dale, Arts Ed, Urdang, etc but my daughter is keen to not do academic A levels (at least not only A levels) and we want to look ...

Standard required for performing arts 6th form vs 3yr diploma at 16
Is the standard required to get into a performing arts 6th form college to do vocational MT qualifications equivalent to A Levels lower than for the 3 year MT diploma course that can be done at 16? I assume this is the case but wanted to be sure as there seems to be many options and I’m just trying ...

Has COVID changed your DC training/career plans?
Hi, a friend’s daughter who’s just started at one of the well-known dance/drama schools on a MT degree course is having second thoughts about performing as a career due to the current COVID situation and the effect on the industry at the moment. She also experienced some ‘bitchyness’ in the last ter...

Re: Performing arts 6th form colleges
My daughter has started the AVT 2 year course at Urdang .It is a fully funded Level 3 Cambridge technical diploma, it carries 112 UCAS points. She absolutely loves it although very tiring. There is a mixture of commuters and ones that have moved to London on her course . They study Ballet , Jazz , ...

Re: Performing arts 6th form colleges
Hi, we’re looking for colleges that offer the BTEC musical theatre equivalent to 3 A levels for my DD who is currently in year 10. We have a couple of local ones that have a good reputation but want to spend the near year and half looking at a few others as well. Am open to my DD leaving home if it...
