Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry

Hi, my DD has just attended the Italia Conti audition preparation course, which she enjoyed and found useful, but I think it was a bit of a reality check for her! She had thought her singing was her strength as she has got a strong belt but although she received overall good feedback on her singing,...

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry

Hi, my DD has just started submitting applications and has auditions coming up now. Scary stuff! We just have a question - when they ask for two contrasting songs, should one of these be legit even if not asked for. I know technically it doesn’t have to be if they haven’t specified it but we just wo...

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry

Thanks for all the replies! I have emailed Urdang and it is one of the five UCAS options and you apply through both UCAS and Urdang direct before the audition. I've seen that they have now changed the application webpage this morning to make this clearer and updated their stepwise list to make UCAS ...

But what happens if you audition after the UCAS deadline?

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry

Hi, I just have a question re Urdang and UCAS. It says on the website you apply through UCAS once you’ve accepted an offer after auditioning, does that mean that it will use up one of the five UCAS choices?

Funding for the more expensive colleges

Hello, we are just looking at the colleges before my DD auditions next academic year and I just wanted to find out how people fund the more expensive colleges like Laines and Mountview, etc? I've looked at DaDa awards but they are capped at a household income of £90,000, which we are above but certa...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Hi, anyone on here know anything about the IAB? It's been recommended to DS by a couple of teachers and intrigued to know of anyone's experiences. Hi, did you get any response to this? Or does anyone else have any experience or knowledge of IAB? My DD is thinking of doing the summer course with a f...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

On the issue of foundations, I had a look at graduating years profiles from the top places we were targeting to see how many had done foundations before the BA (they usually list on spotlight profile). So for instance, GSA MT 23 37 grads 1 Bird foundation 5 GSA foundation 1 Arts Ed foundation 1 Emi...

Re: Mt sixth forms

My DD has just started at Kingsclere College 6th form on the musical theatre course and is loving it. I feel like she's getting good training in all three areas of dance, singing and acting and past students have gone on to good drama/dance colleges. We also looked at Arts1.

Amount of jazz dance at 6th form college

My DD has just started at a localish performing arts 6th form college that’s linked to a part time dance school, doing musical theatre. She’s doing 2 lessons of ballet, 2 lessons of tap, 1 lesson commercial, 1 lesson modern, 1 lesson commercial jazz and 1 contemporary, as well as singing and acting....

Re: Performing arts 6th form colleges

My DD has been offered a place at Arts1 6th form and at another more local college. She loved Arts1 and made friends on the audition day but as we don’t live locally, she’d have to stay with a host family. she’s really unsure about staying with a host family however, so it’s been tricky for her to d...

Re: Performing arts 6th form colleges

Thanks both for your replies. The statement by the dance school was general and not focussed on the 6th form college that my DD and her friend are going to. The college is active on social media and all their students get multiple offers for a wide range of colleges (including the main ones), so I’m...
