Re: Matilda Tour
Matilda casting tends not to be quite so strict on height as some other productions (with the exception of the Matilda role). It depends very much on the teams they are trying to put together. Tommy and Hortensia are the "taller" parts played by the oldest children, so the children playing...

Re: Contact with your agent
I would be interested to hear other people's experiences too, as I'm not sure what "normal" is either. DS has been with an agency that has child and adult divisions for about 18 months. Most contact is via email and is initiated by the agency, and most of it is information about audition/c...

Re: Byrons Management
Byron's does have links to a performing arts school in north London (both were founded by the same woman), but they are 2 separate entities and children don't need to attend the school to be taken on by the agency (DS doesn't, and he isn't the only one). I don't know how many children they have on t...

Re: Byrons Management
DS (10) has been with Byron's for about 18 months, and we have found them to be very good. DS has mostly had theatre auditions, with a smattering of TV, film and commercials - all for what I would consider to be "good-quality" productions. They regularly have a handful of kids in the big W...

Re: New KM Casting for 16 year olds
I think there are lots of reasons people don't post outcomes. Sometimes you never get a definitive "no" (with film and TV particularly, you tend to only hear back if it's a "yes"). Sometimes you're disappointed in the outcome after getting close with recalls/finals. Sometimes it'...

Re: Headshots
May not suit you location-wise as he is in North London, but can recommend Dale Wightman - great photos and a range of package prices.

Re: Communication with agent
I think he probably does get submitted for adverts. just not called very often. I have no objection to adverts myself - but DS apparently thinks they aren't very exciting and would rather be on stage .

Re: Communication with agent
Thanks for all your comments, definitely food for thought. I think I have may have relied too much on hinting heavily rather than plain speaking in previous communications: like swanny, I am wary of seeming to be questioning the agent's efficiency or telling them how to do their job. I like pg's sug...

Re: Communication with agent
DS has had at least a couple of auditions a month, which to be honest is about as often as is manageable for us. Mostly theatre, some TV, very few commercials (which fits with DS's preferences). He gets recalled more often than not, so I am happy that he is being submitted for roles that are a good ...

Re: Christopher Robin casting
DS is being seen for this later this week (he's blond too). Interesting to hear that this project has been round the houses so many times - helps keep expectations realistic! DS hasn't been asked to prepare anything for the casting - maybe there isn't actually a script yet?

Re: Byrons Management
DS is with Byron's. We're very happy with them, both in terms of communication with the agency and the auditions/castings/jobs DS has had.
I wasn't quite clear from your OP - are you with Byron's now or thinking of moving there from Mark Jermin?

Re: Children working professionally whilst at vocational sch
No advice, but watching with interest as DS has made tentative noises about SYTS for secondary. Like you, we are a couple of years off any decision (and who knows if his interest will be sustained that long) but I'm struggling to know how to gauge whether it would be the right decision. I can see th...
