Re: Mary Poppins
I asked Dds agent and he said they are however the kids would live in a house for 6-8weeks for rehearsal time and then the show. It’s not for us as dd wouldn’t cope and not would I not seeing her. Best of luck all!! Very good to hear they are open to casting from outside London/SE! Living away from...

Re: Mary Poppins
Auditions aren't until the end of next month and Jo Hawes will be busy in early March casting children for Joseph and girls for the Les Mis tour, so I wouldn't necessarily expect to hear about audition slots just yet. Jo usually gives about a week's notice for auditions (though once, memorably, we h...

Re: Self Tape Success Stories
Never a wasted opportunity even if not cast - it was a great experience for DS to be one of a small number recalled and to meet the director.
We're now looking forward to seeing sugarpplumfairy's DD play a great role

Re: Mary Poppins
It doesn't specify location in the breakdown on Jo Hawes' website, but based on previous experience with similar shows I think it is most likely that children will need to live within commuting distance to London. I would suggest emailing or tweeting Jo to ask - she is usually pretty quick to respond.

Re: Mary Poppins
The information I have (via DS's agent) is that first rounds of auditions will be held on a single date in late March. This casting director doesn't usually make a distinction between children with and without agents, so I would be very surprised if there were separate audition rounds planned for ch...

Re: Mary Poppins
Nininana , I don't think previous Jane Banks' have been uniformly blonde/blue-eyed, so I wouldn't let that put you off applying. I suspect the "fair-skinned" description is a way of indicating that they won't be considering fully colour-blind casting for this production. Having an agent o...

Re: Mary Poppins
There has been a casting call circulated, but it seems to be going via agents first. I imagine there will be something on Jo Hawes' website about direct submissions in the near future though. General brief is: Jane Banks – feisty about 11, great acting and singing, some movement, between 4 foot 6 - ...

Re: Self Tape Success Stories
I've just seen this! How strange that it was the same recall! :') lovely meeting you today :D fingers crossed for them both. Sounds like it will be a fab series x Lovely to meet you too - and still in awe of how far you travelled to be there! A great experience, and to get in that room was an achie...

Re: Self Tape Success Stories
Snap, sugarplumfairy - my DS had the same news last week. I wonder if it's the same series? Best of luck to your DD for her recall! I definitely think self-tapes are a learning curve. DS got nowhere with them for ages but has had several recalls from tapes in the last 6 months, so I think we must be...

Re: Dd in spotlight- where else can I find her auditions?
If your DD is on Spotlight as a child performer presumably she has an agent? If that's the case, her agent should be submitting her for jobs on Spotlight and for casting briefs circulated directly by casting directors, not just waiting for CDs to see her Spotlight profile and get in touch. DS has ne...

Re: Just looking for some reassurance/advice
I think it's perfectly sensible to take stock of whether you're heading down the right path, especially with activities that involve a sacrifices in terms of time, money or the balance of family life. However, there are so many reasons why a child might not be cast in a part, and a lot of those reas...
Re: Why.. Can anyone help please
I have always found this forum a fantastic source of information and forum members generous with their time and knowledge. People don't post information about casting successes because offers often come with conditions of confidentiality attached, and no-one wants to risk losing their child a role b...

Re: Dance studio
Laura Bruce Dance Academy in Bromley would be worth looking at. DS has several friends in full-time vocational performing arts schools who dance there, and quite a few of their pupils have appeared in WE shows.
