Re: Arts Education Youth Actors summer school

I don't know about Arts Ed, I'm afraid, but the NYT has summer courses. Including one in screen-acting. I don't have experience of these either, just saw they were on, and most are general access (for non-members too) http://www.nyt.org.uk/events/#whatson_courses

Re: Km casting call

Usually don't hear at all. Even sometimes after a recall.

Re: National Youth Theatre

I don't know whether it's deliberate, or just not being run by parents, so they don't get how awkward it is. DS loved the Intake Acting Course he did last year - said it was the best thing he's ever done and that he learned more there than he did during 2 WE runs (Matilda and Billy) and 1 NYMT produ...

Re: National Youth Theatre

I agree it's confusing. Part of the confusion is that people are applying for different things. The first year someone is successful, they do an Intake Acting course - junior or senior depending on age. My DS did this last year, so now he's a 'member', so he auditioned to get into a production for t...

Re: National Youth Theatre

I emailed to chase and found out that it's a no for DS for this year. He'll definitely reapply next year though. They were apologetic and did say everyone should have heard by now, so if anyone else is waiting then it's worth contacting them.

Re: National Youth Theatre

Thanks, totallycluelessmum. I didn't realise there had been recalls! We've heard literally nothing, so we'd better assume its a no. I had a newsletter yesterday, but I don't think that was connected to the application for this year at all. DS is 15 so hasn't been able to apply for any of the opportu...

Re: National Youth Theatre

DS did the Intake Acting course last summer, and auditioned in February for this year (though we don't know what for exactly). We were told we'd hear by the beginning of May, and then had an update to say we'd hear by the end May - we still haven't heard, though I know some of his friends have. Has ...

Re: Km casting call

I asked DS's agent about this and he said that as Rob Kelly knows him, there's no need to apply to this as it's a general call - possibly mainly for those without representation - not a specific casting, so if you don't hear but KM or RK already knows your DC, that may be why they aren't called for ...

How long do you reckon it takes for casting directors to get back to you when you submit yourself? I'm new to this lol. x
Anything from 5 minutes to never is completely normal, Itsyazzy. Good luck.

Re: Songs for 9 yo

Surely the teacher ought to be able to suggest songs that won't strain her voice? I'd have thought they'd be better qualified to know what songs would be suitable than a 9 year old or a helpful parent, and be able to suggest material, unless they're someone not really qualified but just sort of help...

Re: National Youth Theatre

The first year anyone gets in, they do what's called an Intake Acting Course. Age 14-17 is Junior, 18+ is Senior. Once they have done that, they are a member of the NYT till age 25 and can then apply to do other things with them. If your DD is first on the reserve list, I'd be pretty confident she'l...
