Re: Drama school auditions and how "Acting" is taught in sch

Interesting - I have a feeling I might know one of the actors at the school in question. I have seen several of these type of posters around, I think they are aimed at the KS3 age group rather than older students. I guess they brighten up a classroom a little. Dh has taught at a couple of performing...

Re: Stagecoach Easy Stages 2011 - The Secret Garden

They will be taking part in a dance and drama workshop, then doing the individual audition.

Dd is not going for it due to the distance involved, I feel that she is too young to board away from home for two weeks and we would not be able to stay down there for that length of time.

Re: Passport

You don't have to sign for them but they are sent via a special courier rather than royal mail.

Re: Dance School - advice needed!

A lot depends on the school and the course. My dh teaches at one of the colleges you mention. There there are some courses open to 16 plus and some that are only open to 18 plus. He says that the emphasisis very much on triple threat these days. Apart from ballet/contemporary based courses athe danc...

Re: tickets for billy elliot

I bought my in laws tickets for Xmas (they are going next week) as a vastly reduced price under the Get Into London Theatre promotion. Its a bit like Kidsweek but for anyone. However they are going on a weekday evening. They have £65 tickets reduced to £35 and £37.50 tickets reduced to £25 with no b...

Cancelled Pantos!

Allsounds a bit suss! On the one hand the production company claiming the star was drunk, on the other hand the performers saying they havn't been paid.

Re: Would you take your only just 9 year old to Legally Blon

There were some pretty young children in when I saw it too, but dd is very innocent. Mind you I know an 8 year old who went to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert with her parents. Priscilla, whilst very, very funny is littered with the f word and references to gay sex. MAybe I am too prudish. Am thin...

Would you take your only just 9 year old to Legally Blonde?

I can't decide. Before seeing the show myself I would have said definately no becasue of the sperm donor parentage scene. However I felt that it was quite glossed over and she might miss the connotations.

However Gay or European??? (Hilarious by the way)

Dd really wants to go.

Re: Annie

And the theatre itself, whilst I am sure is lovely, is not a professional West End venue. It is a university run theatre in central London near to the West End seating just over 500. It hosts smaller scale touring productions, comedy, concerts and amateur productions.

Re: Annie

In the stage version of Annie her age is stated as being a little older than in the film version. Think she is 11 in the stage version. Pepper is 12 and Duffy & July are 13.

Re: exams v stage time

I would say the higher exam grades purely becasue they mean that more time has been spent on technique rather than just rehearsing for shows.

Whether or not the exams are actually taken does not matter but the technical work is very beneficial.

Re: What would you do ?

I would go and see your son. Whilst it would be lovely to pay your respects the living are more important than the dead and I'm sure he would agree.
