Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?
Thanks Robin64. I had heard that about Central! Can I ask what some poeple don't like and others do? I am no expert but there seems to be really different reactions to Central. My DD enjoyed her mt audition but my nephew hated it when he went for an acting one. It is big and has very professional f...

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?
GSA & Central (marmite college it seems) would be on my list in your situation. Arts ed and mountview too expensive if you need student finance but may be worth a look to compare - I don't know if they do scholarships? We discounted MV due to cost. The degrees need significant top ups if you are...

Re: Where are our Sept 2018 starters going?
Great hearing everyone's news. DD also settled and enjoying it. She knows what to expect as she was there last year but made lots of new friends which is nice. Already been out to see a show and has some other events planned. Exciting! And tiring - they feel it in the first few weeks especially then...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18
I looked up Guildford a while ago and yes it was an Oct 18 rollout same as Greenwich and Bexley so any Bird foundation students - LAST CALL for HB ACT FAST! Congratulations. Universal Credit obviously hasn't been rolled in yet within Guidford Borough Council - £80 a week would make a huge difference...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18
My son (aged 16) has just been awarded housing benefit from Guildford Borough Council. £80.77 per week. We applied for it four weeks ago , sent supporting documents two weeks ago and first payment has just come through. Wow! That is brilliant and lightening fast!! wonder if they are pushing them th...

Re: Dd struggling - advice
Hi if your DD can get into London there are workshops at places like the mono box and lots of others especially for youth. Or maybe try a short holiday intensive (although I realise they are very tired by holiday times). There are some online acting masterclasses too I think and watch great performa...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019
Sorry - to edit it was an easy walk to Camden from the premier Inn which was about a 15 minutes walk to central - I think it's the Hampstead one?

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019
If you can book London auditions for a Monday - Travelodge rooms are usually cheaper on Sunday nights. Travelodge farringdon is quick walk from urdang -5 -7 minutes walk. Travelodge in Sidcup is a short walk from Bird and next to Waitrose for stocking up on some food for audition day. They have some...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18
Update for Universal Credit - not eligible as under 18 years of age and with Parental Support. This is for Thurrock Council. Quite gutted as to find a further £490.00 per month for accommodation costs plus extra to send DD is going to put us under a lot of strain. i guess the Government expects us ...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18
You can still claim current benefits and tax credits until Universal Credit is introduced to your area. Find out when Universal Credit might be introduced to your area by using our postcode checker. This is from Bristol council website. It may mean there is a tiny window for some foundation students...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18
Also Guildford looks like October too for GSA & other Guildford schools. Good luck folks. Yet another rug gets pulled out from under our kids. We really would have struggled to fund DD without the help of housing benefit last year for her foundation.

Looks like Greenwich is set for October too which would be your local council for bird college Avery halls. Foundation students might still be able to claim Hb under old system.

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18
Bird college. I have looked at the roll out for UC using the bird college postcode. It gives 24th October 2018 as the roll out date for UC new claims for sidcup. You may be entitled to start a claim under the old housing benefit rules before this date. DO NOT DELAY starting a claim. Check postcode i...

Without parental support means they have to be an orphan or completely estranged. What a comprehensive get out.
