Its one reason why we decided to give up festivals. Dh had not ben before and hated it, said it wasn't what drama schools/casting directors were looking for.
Dd has become a bit more stagey these days and we are trying to tone her back down.

Re: Ideas for auditioning workshop for 7 yr old
The poem itself was fine as was how dd performed it for the exam She had done it at a festivdl the previous day and the festival adjudicator gave the opposite comments to Jo. The festivdl winners were very OTT and very Stagey whereas dd liked to perform in a more natural but expressive way. One diff...

Re: Ideas for auditioning workshop for 7 yr old
Dd did it a few years ago when she was 8 and did her Lamda poem. It was really really useful because shed done a festival the day before where dh thought it was really Stagey and false and Jo confirmed our thoughts that's not what casting directors are looking for.

Re: Applying for 2013
A girl from dd's dance school posted in the facebook group today that she has an offer with funding for Bird College. The post sounded like she had more than one offer do she had to decide which to accept.

Re: Is there a definitive list of the age colleges take from
LIPA is age 18 and a degree course but they don't offer a course in Musical Theatre. They do either acting or dance (both involve some vocal /drama/ dance training.

Hi Mags Interesting post. I run a children's theatre school not that far from you and my dh is an Estill CMT. However he doesn't teach children except to help me out occasionally so its always good to know who is around. He teaches mostly in vocational colleges. He knows DC by the way. I occasionall...

Re: Lamda monologue help
However if Skellig was used for a Grade 3 exam I expect it would be too advanced for this student. I have no problems finding Grade 1-3 pieces. It's Entry Level that is hard.

Re: Lamda monologue help
The Resident Ghost is one of the set anthology pieces for Level 1 (grades 1-3) so you arnt allowed to use it for Entry Level. I've not come across Stop Slimming Mum. Is it a standalone monologue from a collection or a extract from a play. I know Skellig is used for Verse & Prose. Did you adapt t...

Lamda monologue help
I'm struggling to find a suitable monologue for a slightly older girl doing entry level acting. Most are too short. She doesn't want to do anything too young but the problem with monologues based on literature for older children is they are either not enough speech or they are just too in depth for ...
