Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
Hello to those who have joined us! @Alro, I am sure your DD has the right idea to get organised and audition early. Sadly DS, although very keen, does not really do 'early'. He's in a show in half term, and juggling rehearsals and schoolwork, so every time I suggest maybe looking at some monologues ...

Re: Amount of jazz dance at 6th form college
I'm by no means a dance expert, but does it perhaps depend whether your DD would consider herself primarily a dancer or more of a triple threat performer? If she's aiming for eg Mountview, GSA etc and is a fantastic actor-singer who can also move well, I doubt a relative lack of experience in one da...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
Hello to everyone who has posted. Lawn, thanks for detailing all your DD's experiences. Fingers crossed it's third time lucky for your DD this year! It must be so hard when they get recalls and Foundation offers that prove they have the talent, but just haven't quite hit the jackpot of the degree of...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
Hi Ditzi! I wonder if my DS knows your DD already? Did you go to the sharing of work on the final day of NYT? I really enjoyed that!

Auditioning for 2023 entry
Feels like tempting fate, but I'm starting a thread. DS is going into Year 13 and will be auditioning for post-18 acting courses, but all are welcome on the thread, whether MT or acting. In all honesty we are very prepared for the fact that for acting the schools like them to be older, and he may ge...

Re: NYT results day
Congrats to your DD too Ditzi. I agree, at 17 the timing is perfect! i hope it's a great experience and will stand them in good stead when it comes to auditions next year. DS knows the reality is not many people get onto an acting degree at 18, but he might as well have a go, and with NYT this summe...

Re: NYT results day
Just seen this. DS was also lucky this year after a no last year (which was fully expected - even more delighted to have the yes this time). It's going to be an expensive summer as he is also doing NYMT, but he's 17 and has a part time job so can contribute. He's trying to decide between applying fo...

Re: BYMT Summer Camp
You'e not too late for the NYMT summer course - just for the auditioned productions. Or were you looking at a last-minute audition for a BYMT show? Sorry, I had thought you wanted a summer camp.

Re: Does being a boy give you a bigger advantage of getting into a 3 year musical theatre/dance courses?
Interesting question. Boys obviously have less competition in terms of sheer numbers. However, a boy of 18 who wants to perform is probably self-selecting. If they haven't really got what it takes their interest may well have fallen away during the teen years when they invariably encounter teasing i...

Re: Yyr 12 on MT course - what sort of things to do
I'm a bit confused - from what you say your daughter started Year 12 doing just acting, has transferred to MT but her forte is acting? Does she now want to audition for acting or MT post 18? I think you'll get more traffic if you clarify which she wants to go for and therefore what sort of support s...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry
Ooh, I’m really glad this thread has been started, I’ve been watching the 2019 one for a while, and now it’s our turn  DD is just finishing first year at sixth form and we’ve started doing some research in where to go next for a musical theatre BA. She’s strongest in singing and acting, and ...
